Parker Meggitt, a recent addition to Parker Hannifin, is a global leader in the Commercial and Military Aerospace markets, specializing in a wide range of products including fire and smoke detection systems, extinguishing systems, bleed air overheat detection systems, actuators, rudder pedal assemblies, pumps, fuel gauging systems, and high-temperature cables. Located in Simi Valley, CA, this site is within the Fire Safety & Power Systems Division (FSPSD) and is a key supplier in select energy markets, particularly in nuclear gas analyzers and nuclear containment vessel penetration cables. We work directly with some of the largest aerospace companies in the world, including Airbus, Boeing, Embraer, and Lockheed Martin, among others

SHIPPING AND RECEIVING SUPERVISOR (AEROSPACE MFG EXPERIENCE)

Position Summary: The Shipping and Receiving Supervisor, manages the shipping and receiving team and organizes activities to ensure effective and efficient flow of shipping & receiving activities from arrival or shipped, while aligning with company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Plans and manages manpower and the physical consolidation floor to support shift activity regarding shipping and receiving of products

  • Manages the packaging supplies inventory and coordinates with areas necessary to ensure that adequate stock levels are maintained

  • Interfaces with other stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate receipt or shipment of products, and resolve receipt discrepancies

  • Fosters the professional growth and development of team members through personal example, effective counseling, and appropriate training

  • Compiles charts, graphs and other data for shipping and receiving function to use and for management review

  • Ensures general safety, compliance with relevant legislation, regulations and company requirements

  • Leads and directs work for team of employees as defined by business needs

  • Manages staff selection, performance, development and training processes to ensure team competencies and capabilities to reach the business goals and expectations

  • Manage daily scheduling and prioritization of inbound/outbound shipments.

  • Steps up when needed and stretches to meet the needs of the business

  • Maintain high shipping accuracy through enforcement of pick/pack verification, barcode scanning, and final audit procedures.

  • Manage carrier bookings, freight mode selection, and expedite approvals in accordance with company policy to control freight spend.

  • Manage claims, returns, and damage investigations with carriers and suppliers, coordinate with Quality and Customer Service for resolution.

  • Other responsibilities as assigned

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives (5S, Kaizen, packing optimization) to improve throughput, reduce costs, and lower error rates.

  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance

  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary

Qualifications:

  • Experience in SAP with inventory and shipping transactions highly desired

  • Strong knowledge of shipping processes: carrier types (parcel, LTL, TL), freight cost control, and documentation. Dangerous good experience preferred.

  • Ability to document and manage standard work processes and instructions

  • Excellent communication, organization and team building skills

  • Ability to follow instructions and apply processes and procedures to complex tasks

  • Exercises good judgment to identify and resolve day-to-day technical and operational problems

  • Able to read standard measuring devices

  • Proficient computer skills, and strong attention to detail

  • Experience in regulated industries (aerospace) with DFARS, ITAR, or similar compliance awareness, preferred.

  • Experience with carrier scorecards, and parcel optimization tools preferred.

Education & Experience:

  • Education requirement: bachelor's degree is REQUIRED

  • Years of experience: 5+ years of experience in shipping and receiving roles in a large manufacturing environment.

  • 3+ years of people management/supervisory and development experience.

  • Preferred experience: Aerospace or Light Industrial Manufacturing experience.

Competitive Compensation

  • Pay Range: $100,300 to $166,900/ annually

  • Participation in Annual Incentive Program
