Summary:

The Shipping and Receiving Supervisor reports to the Supply Chain Manager; oversees all warehouse, shipping, receiving, and driving operations while leading and developing a skilled team. This role ensures accurate, compliant, and efficient movement of inbound and outbound cargo through strong coordination, documentation control, and use of transportation and assetmanagement systems. The supervisor partners with internal departments and external carriers, drives process and safety improvements, maintains equipment and fleet readiness, and supports a culture centered on safety, training, and operational excellence.

Essential Functions: (Responsibilities, Tasks, Supervisory Needs)

  • Supervises shipping, receiving, warehouse, and driving personnel to ensure efficient daily operations
  • Trains staff on warehouse procedures, materialhandling equipment, forklift use, and safety standards
  • Manages warehouse organization and inventory flows to ensure regular inbound and outbound freight movements
  • Maintains accuracy and coordination of freight backloading for Trident vessels while in port
  • Coordinates with procurement and warehouse staff for return and repair storage and shipments
  • Oversees accuracy and documentation of inbound and outbound shipments, including freight quotes, bills of lading, and invoices
  • Utilizes transportation and asset management systems to maintain cargo accountability and traceability
  • Plans shipping priorities, workload distribution, routing, and legal load limits for trucks
  • Coordinates with trucking companies, vessel offload operations, and internal stakeholders on logistics needs
  • Reviews and improves warehouse processes, conducts daily safety meetings, and enforces safety culture
  • Manages administrative tasks including invoice coding, record accuracy, and overall departmental efficiency

Travel/On-Call Requirements: Travel up to 25% to plants/sites in alignment with key projects

This is a nonexempt position with an hourly rate range from $36.00 - $39.00

Minimum Requirements

Required Qualifications: (Education, Years of Experience, Certifications)

  • 4 years of experience in warehouse logistics, including shipping and receiving.
  • High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Valid state driver's license.

Preferred Education & Experiences:

  • Associate's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, or Supply Chain Management
  • 2 years of experience in a leadership or teamlead role within warehouse, logistics, or related operations.
  • HAZWOPER certification (or ability to obtain)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Ability to obtain forkliftoperator certification within 30 days of hire
  • Functional knowledge of assetmanagement software; preferred familiarity with JDE, EAM, and/or SAP
  • Experienced in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of warehouse logistics, safety regulations, and documentation systems needed to manage compliant, accurate, and efficient shipping and receiving operations
  • Skilled in leading teams, coordinating complex logistics activities, and communicating effectively to resolve issues and maintain operational flow
  • Able to execute and oversee safe, efficient, and compliant warehouse operations while improving processes and maintaining equipment readiness

Work environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Work Ability Requirements:

Must be capable of boarding and departing (exiting) a vessel without assistance by moving up or climbing a gangplank and/or a vertical ladder. Must be capable of boarding/departing the vessel by being lifted in a crane or manlift. May also enter and exit a skiff from a dock or a boat unassisted.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
