Job Summary
Under general supervision, this position performs entry-level maintenance and facility support work for shooting range buildings, grounds, and equipment. The position assists with routine maintenance tasks and supports daily range operations to ensure safe, clean, and functional public spaces.
Typical Duties
Grounds Maintenance & Landscaping
- Assists with mowing, trimming, edging, and debris removal to maintain range grounds
- Performs basic landscaping tasks such as planting, watering, and weed removal
- Assists in maintaining turf areas and landscaped features
Facility Maintenance & Custodial Duties
- Performs maintenance and repair of range facilities, structures, and equipment
- Removes trash and debris to ensure safe and clean environments
- Assists with minor repairs to facilities such as fixtures, fencing, and range structures
- Cleans and maintains buildings, equipment, and work areas
- Assists with waste removal and sanitation tasks
- Maintains a safe and clean environment
Equipment & Tool Use
- Operates tools and equipment required for maintenance and facility support
- Assists with maintenance and care of tools and equipment
Operational Support
- Communicates maintenance needs, safety concerns, and operational issues to the Range Supervisor
- Supports range staff with assigned tasks and operational needs
- Follows direction from supervisors and higher-level staff
- Assists with daily operations of the shooting range
Safety & Work Practices
- Follows established safety procedures and work instructions
- Uses personal protective equipment as required
- Maintains awareness of hazards associated with job assignments
Training & Development
- Participates in training related to maintenance and safety procedures
Other Duties
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
Licenses & Certifications
- Valid New Mexico Class D driver's license.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of:
- Basic grounds maintenance practices including mowing, trimming, and debris removal
- Safe use of hand tools, power tools, and basic maintenance equipment
- Cleaning and sanitation practices for public facilities
- Workplace safety practices and use of personal protective equipment
Skills in:
- Performing manual labor tasks related to grounds and facility maintenance
- Using hand tools and basic power tools safely and effectively
- Cleaning and maintaining facilities to established standards
- Following instructions and completing assigned tasks accurately
- Communicating with supervisors and team members regarding work assignments
Ability to:
- Perform physically demanding work including lifting, carrying, bending, and prolonged standing
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Follow detailed instructions and learn maintenance procedures
- Work safely around equipment, chemicals, and public environments
- Work effectively as part of a team
Physical Requirements
Work involves standing, walking, bending, lifting, carrying materials, and performing manual labor in outdoor environments.
Working Conditions
Work is performed primarily outdoors with exposure to weather conditions, equipment, and physical hazards. Position is safety sensitive and subject to drug testing in accordance with applicable State and Federal regulations and City of Clovis policies.
