Job Title: Shop Assistant
Job Description
The Shop Assistant is responsible for receiving, storing, picking, packing, and preparing shipments of equipment and materials safely and accurately in accordance with company standards. The role also involves assisting with machine production, stores, and service as directed.
Responsibilities
  • Work in a safe and professional manner, prioritizing safety as the number one concern.
  • Maintain a quality mindset as the second priority.
  • Unload and warehouse machinery, crates, and pallets using a lift truck or other means.
  • Perform receiving operations on incoming parts and equipment.
  • Prepare equipment and components for shipping in boxes and crates.
  • Assemble crates and load them with prepared equipment.
  • Load crates and equipment onto freight carriers using a lift truck or pallet jack.
  • Disassemble, clean, and inspect used machinery and components.
  • Drive to local vendors to deliver and pick up parts.
  • Stock used and reconditioned parts on shelves and racks.
  • Assemble kits of used components and reconditioned parts according to parts lists.
  • Maintain Kanban inventory as directed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas (5S).
  • Assist department employees as assigned.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts, 5S activities, and total quality initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and be flexible to assist in other departments when work is slow.
  • Perform cycle counts.
  • Work independently as directed.
  • Utilize DSI for transacting completed work orders.
  • Follow the agreed process within E1 and DSI, completing all relevant training modules in the Learning Management System (LMS).
Essential Skills
  • Proficiency in assembly, blueprint reading, mechanical and electrical tasks.
  • Experience with hand tools and mechanical assembly.
  • Mechanically inclined with inventory management skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Specific vision abilities required, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

Work Environment
The work environment includes exposure to moving mechanical parts with a moderate noise level. The position operates on a first shift from 9 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
