Overview:

The CNC Burner Helper assists CNC machine operators in the preparation, handling, movement, marking, and finishing of steel plates and materials used in the burning and cutting process. This position is responsible for supporting safe and efficient production operations, maintaining work areas, and ensuring materials are properly identified and prepared for processing.

Standard work schedule is 4 days a week (Monday- Thursday), 10 hours a day.

Mandatory Overtime on weekends based on production needs

Responsibilities:
  • Read and accurately use a measuring tape for material verification and layout requirements.
  • Operate overhead cranes to assist with material handling and movement.
  • Scribe steel plates using a handheld air scriber.
  • Hard stamp material using stencils and hammer to ensure proper identification and traceability.
  • Utilize hand torches for material cutting and related tasks.
  • Cut and remove scrap or excess material from production areas, including water tables.
  • Grind steel plates to remove slag and improve material quality.
  • Assist with rigging operations by safely connecting and disconnecting various types of rigging equipment on the shop floor and water table.
  • Operate tag lines to safely guide suspended loads during material movement.
  • Operate forklifts to transport materials and equipment as required.
  • Perform housekeeping duties, including sweeping and maintaining clean work areas.
  • Assist with cleaning and shoveling sludge from water tables.
  • Support CNC burning operations and other production activities as directed by supervisors.
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and work practices.
  • Performs other duties as required.
Local Requirements:
  • High school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in fabrication and manufacturing
Qualifications:

Normal work environment will be shop or field which will require exposure to outdoor weather conditions, loud noise, working near moving mechanical parts, electrical energy, construction equipment, vibration, fumes, chemicals, and airborne particles.

Sedentary Work:

Lifting 10 pounds maximum and occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as dockets, ledgers and small tools.

Light Work:

Lifting 20 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds.

Medium Work:

Lifting 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds (overhead level).

Heavy Work:

Lifting 100 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

Very Heavy Work:

Lifting objects more than 100 pounds with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing 50 pounds or more (to shoulder height).

Skills and Behaviors:
