Position Summary
 
Key Responsibilities
Essential Functions
 
Maintenance and Repair Oversight
• Assign and prioritize daily work orders for mechanics and technicians.
• Oversee repairs and preventive maintenance on vehicles, small engine equipment, machinery, and tools.
• Inspect completed work to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance with safety standards.
• Troubleshoot complex mechanical issues and provide technical guidance.
 
Supervision and Team Leadership
• Lead, mentor, and support shop personnel, promoting teamwork and safety.
• Train employees on proper maintenance procedures, equipment use, and safety protocols.
• Monitor performance and provide input for evaluations.
• Ensure staffing levels support operational needs.
 
Inventory & Parts Management
• Oversee ordering, receiving, and stocking of parts, supplies, tools, and shop materials.
• Maintain accurate inventory and ensure availability of critical parts.
• Review invoices and verify accuracy of parts and supply orders.
 
Safety and Compliance
• Enforce all company safety procedures, PPE requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
• Conduct shop safety inspections and participate in safety meetings and audits.
• Ensure proper handling of hazardous materials and waste.
• Maintain workplace cleanliness and organization.
 
Equipment Records & Reporting
• Maintain accurate service logs, maintenance records, and inspection reports.
• Track equipment downtime and assist with root-cause analysis of recurring issues.
• Communicate repair status, major concerns, or delays to management and field supervisors.
• Support budgeting through maintenance cost tracking and forecasting.

Qualifications
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Three (3) years of experience in equipment, fleet, or mechanical repair operations.
  • One (1) year of experience in a supervisory or lead role preferred.
Skills and Competencies
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues.
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • Meet all physical requirements of the position.
  • Pass all drug and alcohol screens as required by Company policy and, if applicable, required by DOT regulations.
  • 18 years of age or older, or 21 if CDL is required.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
 
Preferred
  • CDL Class A or B.
  • Certifications in diesel, gasoline, hydraulic, or small engine repair.
  • Experience using fleet or maintenance management software.
This role is primarily based in a shop environment with occasional field support. Travel may be required for breakdowns, inspections, or training.
