Position Overview
The Shop Helper assists fabrication and production teams with material handling, setup support, and general shop duties in a metal fabrication environment. This Shop Helper role works closely with press brake operators and production staff to keep workflow moving efficiently. The ideal Shop Helper is dependable, safety-focused, and eager to learn manufacturing processes.
Required Experience & Skills
Basic knowledge of manufacturing or fabrication environments
Ability to read tape measures and perform basic math
Comfortable handling metal materials and components
Strong attention to detail and quality
Ability to stand for long periods and perform physical labor
Dependable attendance and strong work ethic
Willingness to learn machine operation and shop processes
Previous shop experience helpful, but not required
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Assist press brake operators during setup and production
Load and unload metal sheets and fabricated parts
Position materials properly for bending operations
Remove finished parts and stage them for the next process
Measure parts using tape measures, calipers, and gauges
Perform basic deburring and grinding tasks
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
Follow all company safety procedures and PPE requirements
Support quality checks to ensure parts meet specifications
Work Environment
Fabrication and metal shop environment
Exposure to machinery, metal materials, and shop noise
Physically demanding role requiring lifting, bending, standing, and repetitive motion
