Smart Trades is hiring an experienced Welder/Fabricator on behalf of a reputable, growing fabrication company in West Jordan, Utah. This is primarily a shop-based position with occasional field work for installations and repairs.

We are looking for a dependable, skilled professional who takes pride in craftsmanship and has experience with MIG and stick welding. The ideal candidate will be comfortable reading blueprints, fabricating custom metal projects, and maintaining high safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality MIG welding (required).
• Perform stick welding in both shop and field environments (required).
• Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and fabrication plans.
• Fabricate, assemble, and fit custom metal projects.
• Operate common fabrication equipment and shop tools safely and efficiently.
• Assist with field installations, repairs, and modifications as needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Work independently while meeting production and quality expectations.
• Follow all company safety procedures and PPE requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience with MIG and stick welding.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and shop drawings.
• Strong fabrication and metal assembly skills.
• Understanding of welding safety practices and quality standards.
• Reliable with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.

Preferred Qualifications

The following experience is a plus but not required. Training may be available for the right candidate:

• TIG welding
• Press brake operation
• Tube laser operation
• Flat laser operation
• Additional fabrication equipment and shop tools

Required PPE

Employees are required to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including:

• Welding helmet with proper shade lens
• Safety glasses with side shields
• Welding gloves
• Flame-resistant (FR) clothing or welding jacket
• Steel-toe or composite-toe boots
• Hearing protection
• Face shield for grinding and cutting operations
• High-visibility apparel for field work
• Respiratory protection when required
• Hard hat when required on job sites
