For over 100 years, Maguire has been an industry leader in the fabrication, construction, and maintenance of water storage tanks and elevated water towers. The Industrial Blaster/Painter will have basic skills in blasting and painting. Must be able to measure and record blast profiles. This person will meet basic needs to organize and complete work, steadily increasing efficiency.  This person will be responsible for safety, quality, production standards and goals.

The shift runs Friday, Saturday, Sunday; 12-hour days (6:00 AM - 6:30 PM) - work 36 hours and get paid for 40, as long as specific conditions are met!

Essential Functions:

  • Operate industrial robotic sandblasting cells, including robot controllers and HMIs.
  • Load, select, and verify blasting programs and process recipes.
  • Monitor robotic motion, blasting parameters, and cycle execution.
  • Have a basic understanding/knowledge of what to look for and how to check for quality.
  • Verify blast pressure, abrasive flow rate, and nozzle condition.
  • Monitor surface coverage, finish quality, and dwell time.
  • Adjust process parameters within defined limits to meet specifications.
  • Set up workpieces, fixtures, or positioners.
  • Assist with part changeovers and program selection.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance (filters, nozzles, hoses).
  • Identify and respond to system alarms and faults.
  • Responsible for a clean and safe work area.
  • Ensure material coming into and going out of work area(s) is properly identified.                
  • Have a working understanding of our overhead hoists.

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience with industrial equipment, robotics, or automated machinery.
  • Goal oriented, reliable, responsible for their actions.
  • Able to accept responsibility for others in work area, plus have good oral and written communication skills.
  • Adhere to Maguire’s PPE Policy and Safety Programs.  

Work Environment:

  • Must have enough manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work.
  • Use PPE (respirator, protective suits, hearing protection)
  • Must be able to see details at close range.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to traverse construction sites by climbing, balancing, lifting, walking, stooping, and carrying materials.

In the early 1900’s Michael J. Maguire emigrated from Ireland to the Newton/Waltham area where he worked in the plumbing industry. He served in the United States Army during WW1 and following discharge, he continued working in the plumbing industry.

Circa 1922 he began providing plumbing and steam heating services as Michael J. Maguire Plumbing and Heating with three employees working on residential projects. Michael Maguire’s three sons William, Robert and Michael became master plumbers. His second son, Robert, grew the business to include commercial service and construction projects and incorporated the firm in 1969 as Maguire Company, Inc.

Robert’s second son, Dennis V. Maguire, became a master plumber and has continued the family tradition. Today the Maguire Company, Inc. is a vibrant third-generation family owned and operated corporation providing a wide range of plumbing, heating, mechanical contracting services to residential, commercial and institutional clients.
