Description


We are currently searching for a Shop Mechanic.

The Shop Mechanic supports the maintenance, repair, and reliability of Morgan Corp.’s equipment fleet. Working at the center of shop operations, you will diagnose equipment issues, perform repairs, complete preventative maintenance, and help ensure machines are available to support field operations.

You will work closely with equipment management, field personnel, vendors, and fellow technicians to keep equipment operating safely and efficiently. Success in this role requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to minimizing equipment downtime.


Key Responsibilities



Equipment Maintenance & Repair
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair heavy construction equipment including mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
  • Perform preventative maintenance inspections and scheduled service activities.
  • Dismantle, repair, and reassemble equipment and components using appropriate tools and lifting devices.
  • Repair or replace transmissions, bearings, gear systems, hydraulic components, and other major assemblies.
  • Perform welding, cutting, fabrication, and related repair work as required.
  • Conduct post-repair testing to verify equipment performance and reliability.
Equipment Diagnostics & Inspection
  • Operate and inspect equipment to identify defects and determine repair requirements.
  • Utilize diagnostic software, calibration equipment, service manuals, and OEM resources.
  • Inspect components for wear, damage, and serviceability using precision measuring tools.
  • Assist with equipment inspections and condition assessments.
  • Identify recurring equipment issues and communicate findings to management.
Shop Operations Support
  • Maintain accurate repair records, service documentation, and maintenance schedules.
  • Support equipment readiness by prioritizing repairs and responding to operational needs.
  • Assist with equipment preparation, inspections, and fleet support activities.
  • Help maintain shop organization, cleanliness, and safe working conditions.
  • Collaborate with field personnel, vendors, and equipment supervisors to coordinate repairs and maintenance activities.
Safety & Continuous Improvement
  • Follow all company safety policies and manufacturer service procedures.
  • Participate in safety meetings and training initiatives.
  • Stay current on equipment technologies, repair methods, and diagnostic tools.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts focused on equipment reliability and maintenance efficiency.

Education & Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Diesel mechanic, heavy equipment mechanic, or related experience preferred.
  • Experience in diagnosing and repairing construction equipment preferred.
  • Technical school or vocational training is a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred.
Skills & Requirements:
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities.
  • Working knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and diesel systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and service documentation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and electronic maintenance systems.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, operators, vendors, and fellow technicians.
  • Ability to work safely and efficiently in a shop environment.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
