    Job Description

    ESS is looking for an Experienced Shop Mechanic to diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy construction equipment, trucks, and support vehicles in our shop. This role is for a hands-on mechanic who already has the fundamentals down and is ready to take on more complex diagnostic and repair work with minimal supervision, while helping mentor less-experienced techs on the team.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems on heavy equipment (excavators, dozers, loaders, trucks, etc.)
    • Perform inspections, and DOT-required servicing to minimize equipment downtime.
    • Read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and diagnostic software to troubleshoot complex issues.

    • Coach and mentor entry-level and mid-level mechanics on diagnostic technique and shop safety practices.

    • Coordinate with the Shop Manager and field crews to prioritize repairs based on project schedules.

    • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop work area in line with ESS safety standards.

    Qualifications
    • 5+ years of experience as a mechanic servicing heavy construction equipment, trucks, or comparable diesel/hydraulic machinery.

    • Strong working knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and drivetrains.

    • Ability to read technical/service manuals and use diagnostic scan tools.

    • A valid driver's license is required.
    • Welding and fabrication experience preferred.

    • Strong track record of working safely and independently.
