Our Springfield, Oregon shop supports the maintenance, repair, and reliability of ARI’s heavy equipment fleet while also providing equipment service and repair support for outside customers. Our skilled shop team works across a wide range of heavy equipment and plays an important role in keeping equipment safe, reliable, and ready to perform.
Position OverviewWe are looking for Shop Mechanics to join our team at our Springfield, Oregon shop. This is an opportunity to work on a diverse fleet of heavy equipment while helping keep ARI’s equipment and customer equipment safe, reliable, and ready for the field.
Our Shop Mechanics diagnose equipment issues, perform preventive maintenance, and complete repairs on rock drills, crushers, excavators, wheel loaders, dozers, haul trucks, and related support equipment. The work spans diesel engines, transmissions, fuel systems, final drives, hydraulics, electrical systems, air systems, and related components.
We are looking for mechanics who bring strong troubleshooting skills, sound mechanical judgment, and pride in quality workmanship. The ideal candidate communicates well, takes ownership of their work, and is committed to completing safe, reliable, high-quality repairs.
Work Location and Schedule- Work Location: This position is based out of ARI’s Springfield, Oregon shop.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
Compensation- Hourly Rate: $26.00-$38.00 per hour depending on experience and qualifications.

Job Requirements / Qualifications- Experience: Minimum of two years of hands-on heavy equipment repair experience, preferably in a heavy industrial, construction, mining, or similar environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Education Preferred: Associate degree or technical/vocational training in diesel technology, heavy equipment repair, or a closely related field preferred.
- Technical Knowledge: Working knowledge of diesel engines, powertrain systems, hydraulics, electrical and air systems, fuel systems, steering and braking systems, cooling systems, and related heavy equipment components.
- Diagnostics & Troubleshooting: Ability to diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues using appropriate diagnostic tools, testing equipment, and service information.
- Schematics & Service Information: Ability to read and interpret hydraulic and electrical schematics, service manuals, equipment diagrams, and technical specifications.
- Diagnostic Technology: Experience using electronic diagnostic tools and OEM diagnostic software preferred.
- Preventive Maintenance: Knowledge of heavy equipment preventive maintenance, inspections, fluid and filter service, and identification of developing equipment issues.
- Welding & Fabrication Preferred: Basic welding and fabrication experience preferred.
- Driver’s License: Valid driver’s license with a driving record that includes no more than three moving violations and/or chargeable accidents within the last three years and no DUIIs.
- Drug-Free Workplace: Pre-employment drug test and physical required. Random and post-accident drug testing conducted. Zero-tolerance drug policy, including marijuana use.

Job Responsibilities- Equipment Maintenance and Repair: Performs preventive maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on ARI’s heavy equipment fleet.
- Diagnostics: Diagnoses mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, air, and powertrain malfunctions using appropriate testing methods, service information, and diagnostic tools.
- Component Repair: Repairs, replaces, or rebuilds engines, transmissions, fuel systems, final drives, steering components, pumps, motors, valves, and related assemblies within the scope of the position.
- Inspections and Quality Control: Conducts thorough equipment inspections, verifies completed repairs, and follows manufacturer and company service procedures.
- Service Documentation: Completes accurate and timely work orders, service reports, parts lists, timecards, and equipment failure documentation.
- Technical Communication: Communicates professionally with supervisors, coworkers, vendors, and product support personnel to troubleshoot equipment issues, obtain technical information, and coordinate repairs.
- Parts Coordination: Identifies required parts, materials, and supplies and communicates needs promptly to minimize equipment downtime.
- Shop Organization: Applies 5S principles by sorting, setting in order, shining, standardizing, and sustaining a clean and organized work environment.
- Tool and Equipment Care: Properly uses, inspects, maintains, and stores shop tools and equipment and promptly reports damaged or unsafe items.
- Safety Commitment: Maintains a safety-first mindset and follows applicable safety policies, procedures, and regulations to protect themselves and others.
- Additional Duties: Performs other duties as assigned to support shop operations and ARI’s overall success.
