Shop & Mechanical Systems Technician
Position Overview
Responsible for maintaining all company equipment, vehicles, and mechanical systems in a constant state of readiness. This role minimizes downtime, prevents failures, and ensures field crews are fully equipped to perform.
Core Responsibilities
Equipment Maintenance & Repair
- Diagnose and repair restoration equipment (air movers, dehumidifiers, extractors, etc.)
- Perform preventative maintenance per manufacturer and company standards
- Maintain service logs and coordinate outside repairs when needed
Mechanical Systems
- Service generators (gas and diesel) and truck mount systems
- Perform basic vehicle maintenance (fluids, filters, batteries, belts)
- Identify and address issues before failure occurs
Equipment Readiness
- Test equipment prior to deployment
- Remove and track non-functional equipment
- Maintain backup equipment ready for use
Fleet & Shop Support
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections and assist with maintenance scheduling
- Keep shop clean, organized, and fully stocked
- Track equipment and inventory
Operational Support
- Prepare equipment for jobs and respond to field needs
- Support PMs and technicians as needed
- Operate company CDL Class A vehicles (including 18-wheeler) when required
Performance Expectations
- Equipment is tested and ready before deployment
- Minimal preventable equipment failures
- Repairs completed in a timely manner (24–48 hours when possible)
- Preventative maintenance completed on schedule
- Shop remains clean, organized, and efficient
Requirements
- Valid CDL Class A (required)
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Experience with small engines and industrial equipment
- Working knowledge of generators and vehicle systems (gas and diesel)
- Ability to troubleshoot independently
- Organized and reliable
Preferred Experience
- Truck mount systems
- Diesel engines
- Electrical troubleshooting
- Restoration or similar industry experience

Position Details
- Full-time
- Primarily shop-based with occasional field support
- Flexibility required for urgent needs
Compensation & Schedule
- $30/hour (based on experience and capability)
- Full-time (40+ hours/week)
- Occasional weekends as needed
