The Shop Runner/Helper supports fleet and shop operations by transporting parts, materials, tools, and equipment; assisting mechanics and shop personnel with routine tasks; maintaining an organized work environment; and helping ensure vehicles, equipment, and supplies are available when needed. Success in this role is demonstrated through dependability, safe work habits, strong teamwork, and the ability to respond quickly to changing operational needs in a fast-paced environment.

Shop Runner/HelperPay Range: $18-21/hour

Skills and Experience

Required:
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Valid driver's license and ability to safely operate company vehicles
  • Ability to lift materials, load and unload deliveries, and perform physical work in shop and yard environments
  • Dependable attendance, strong work ethic, and ability to follow directions
  • Basic understanding of tools, parts, and shop safety practices
Preferred
  • Prior experience in a shop, warehouse, fleet, delivery, or construction support role
  • Familiarity with vehicle parts, tools, trailers, or equipment handling
  • Forklift or material handling experience
Expectations:

Parts, Materials & Delivery Support
  • Picks up and delivers parts, tools, materials, and equipment between shop, vendors, yards, and job sites
  • Loads, unloads, and stages materials to support mechanics and shop personnel
  • Verifies deliveries and helps ensure requested items are accurate and available when needed
  • Assists with urgent pickup and delivery needs to reduce downtime and support operations
Shop Assistance & Equipment Readiness
  • Assists mechanics and shop staff with routine shop tasks, cleanup, and basic support activities
  • Helps prepare vehicles, trailers, tools, and equipment for service, transfer, or return to operation
  • Performs basic inspections such as checking cleanliness, fuel levels, and visible damage, and reports concerns promptly
  • Maintains orderly work and storage areas to support an efficient and safe shop environment
Inventory, Organization & Housekeeping
  • Assists with organizing shop stock, tools, consumables, and commonly used materials
  • Keeps work areas clean, orderly, and free of hazards
  • Supports counting, stocking, and replenishment activities to maintain operational readiness
Safety, Compliance & Vehicle Care
  • Follows all company safety procedures, PPE requirements, and shop/yard rules
  • Operates company vehicles and equipment safely and reports hazards, damage, or maintenance concerns immediately
  • Supports compliance with company policies for material handling, deliveries, and vehicle usage
Communication & Teamwork
  • Communicates clearly with mechanics, supervisors, vendors, and field personnel regarding pickups, deliveries, and shop needs
  • Works collaboratively with the fleet, shop, and operations teams to support daily priorities
  • Demonstrates reliability, responsiveness, and a willingness to assist wherever needed
