Description
This position is primarily responsible is evaluating and performing service and/or repair jobs on engines and generators.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Troubleshoot, repair, and service equipment (generators, diesel and/or gas engines, transfer switches, switch gear, and etc.) using proper tools and procedures
• Ensure all documentation is completed accurately and efficiently; work orders, service reports, allocation of time, and tracking parts
• Maintain customer satisfaction by ensuring customer needs and deadlines are met
• Complete all scheduled repairs in a safe and efficient manner
• Follow contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations
• Adheres to all safety rules and maintains quality housekeeping in work area
Supervisory Responsibilities:
• No formal responsibility for supervising others
III. Position Requirements
Required:
• High School diploma or GED or equivalent work experience
• 3 years or more of mechanical experience with engines/generators
Preferred:
• 5 years or more experience with engines/generators, preferably Caterpillar equipment
• Experience with transfer switches, switch gear, uninterrupted power source (UPS) equipment

• Strong mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of power train, diesel engines, and electrical systems

• Professional demeanor with both internal and external contacts including personal appearance and friendly, courteous treatment of peers and people at all levels inside and outside the organization
• Strong computer skills experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), and the ability to learn CAT/MacAllister/Michigan Cat systems
• Ability to build and maintain effective customer and professional relationships through strong interpersonal skills with emphasis on relationship-building and consistent demonstration of solid professional judgment
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure, deadline driven environment
• Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed

• Occasional confined sitting (at computer, in car, etc.)

• Frequent rapid use of arms, hands or fingers, in handling or manipulating objects, or operating equipment, tools and/or instruments requiring fine eye-hand coordination
• Frequent repeated bending, crouching, stretching, up and down stairs, or crawling
• Frequent unaided lifting of objects up to 20 pounds; Occasional unaided lifting of objects up to 75 pounds
• Frequent working at heights (such as scaffolding, rooftops, or ladders)
• Frequent communication with other individuals. Must be able to able to exchange accurate information when speaking with customers, coworkers, and/or vendors
• Frequent use of near and far vision acuity. Must be able to identify objects within two feet or less and at a distance of 20 feet.
