This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for a Shore Power Electrical Engineer with the potential to work out of Arlington, VA; Virginia Beach, VA; San Antonio, TX; Dallas, TX; Tacoma, WA; Seattle, WA; Madison, WI; Overland Park, KS; or Denver, CO.
This position will be involved in projects with our Shore Power Engineers across the Federal and Commercial business lines and be a part of a growing organization that meets our clients'' objectives and solves their challenges.
Your Impact
Support medium and low voltage shore power projects from application through detailed design and construction.
Perform detailed electrical design for grounded and ungrounded shore power systems along with upstream grounded power distribution.
Develop electrical design deliverables including:
One-line diagrams
Control and relaying schematics
Wiring diagrams
Conduit and cable sizing/routing
Substation and equipment physical layouts
Equipment selection and specifications
SCADA, electricity metering and communications systems
Perform electrical engineering calculations and design analyses in accordance with NEC, NESC, UFC, CSTO, IEEE, OP5 and other applicable standards.
Support protective relaying and power system studies, including:
Short-circuit analysis
Time-current coordination
Relay settings development
Arc flash analysis
Protection scheme development
Work with the Clients and Activities to define requirements, establish clear direction, and interpret the needs of the project to meet the full delivery needs.
Develop waterfront and shore power construction plans, specifications, cost estimates, and basis of design for facilities and infrastructure that require coordination with owners, other disciplines, sub-consultants, and clients.
Involved from project inception to completion in the design and construction of facility and infrastructure projects, including new and renovation waterfront work.
Coordinate with the Government and/or Client, other disciplines, sub-consultants, and vendors in the execution of the design and construction oversight.
Assist with engineering review of permit applications, engineering design plans and specifications, standby plans and engineering contracts, and periodic construction inspections, to ensure that they comply with applicable state and/or federal regulations and sound engineering practice and standards.
Incorporate and promote future-ready techniques, concept development, operating strategies, and various design requirements/strategies that account for the safety and functionality of end-users, systems, and infrastructure.
Collaborate with professionals from a variety of disciplines, other engineers, planners, and infrastructure authorities within and external to WSP on Federal, State, regional, and locally funded facility and infrastructure projects as well as proposal and business development opportunities.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

Who You Are
Required Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from ABET accredited college or university, or equivalent.
5+ years of relevant post education experience as an electrical engineer providing design deliverables for small, medium, and large capital projects.
Ability to obtain Professional Engineering registration within one year if not already licensed.
Due to client requirements, US citizenship is required.
Knowledge of relevant engineering and electrical construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
Knowledge of NFPA 70 National Electrical Code, NFPA 101 Life Safety Code, and NFPA 780 Standard for the Installation of Lightning Protection Systems.
Revit and AutoCAD proficiency.
SKM Power Tools for Windows, Easy Power, and/or ETAP proficiency.
Experience in site lighting design.
MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and Project proficiency.
Must be flexible to working a variety of schedules to meet business needs and able to prioritize responsibilities and quickly adapt to an evolving work environment.
Proficient knowledge of electrical engineering principles, practices, process, design-bid-build, design-build, and the application to permitting and project work-related issues.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Travel up to 25% may be required depending on project-specific requirements, including the potential for overnight stays.
Preferred Qualifications
Professional Engineering registration.
Current security clearance or ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Experience in medium voltage distribution design from substation to building service transformer.
Experience in medium and low voltage grounded and ungrounded shore power.
Familiar with Maritime Shore Power Systems within coastal and humid waterfront engineering.
Agi32 proficiency.
Preferred location is Virginia Beach, VA

Compensation:
Expected Salary (all locations): $94,300 - $156,600
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
Expected Salary (Colorado only): $100,800 - $147,000
