Summary/Objective

The Short Time Operator plans, coordinates, and runs High-Temperature-Short-Time (HTST) machine to effectively and sanitarily process all milk, milk products, and drinks for bottling.

Responsibilities

  • Processes all milk and some drinks through HTST equipment and constantly test products and adjusts machine accordingly.
  • Works out the most effective production schedule and make adjustments as dictated.
  • Maintains appropriate charts & records to comply with PA Dept. of Agriculture regulations.
  • Makes the proper amounts of different products.
  • Batches mixes and flavored milks.
  • Deals with production problems and changes as needed on a daily basis.
  • Sanitation of the H.T.S.T. equipment as per SSOPs.
  • Maintains a safe and sanitary workplace. Washes tanks when required.
  • Constantly communicates and coordinates with co-workers. Interacts with all plant personnel.
  • Performs miscellaneous tasks and assist others as needed.
  • Responsible for food safety as well as product quality as presented during GMP training, HACCP training, SQF training, FSMA training and Chemical/Sanitation training.
  • Be alert to any suspicious activities as per the 1st ALERT training video.
  • Responsible for Production records and Quality records as assigned.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Must be able to grasp, push, reach, or stoop/kneel/crouch.
  • Frequently required to stand and walk.
  • Lift, carry, push, pull up to 50 lbs. and/or drag up to 200lbs.
  • Work indoors/outdoors for all seasons.
  • Work in hot, noisy, wet environment.
  • Must be able to work around steam and hot parts.
  • Climbs ladders occasionally.
  • Must be able to walk up a flight of stairs.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

  • This is a full-time position; hours of work vary based on corresponding shift. Weekends and holidays based on business demands.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • No specific experience/education required; GED preferred.
  • Basic math skills; with ability to mathematically figure out quantities for production runs and coordinate required run with cartons and product supply.
  • Basic knowledge of machinery and equipment.
