Metal Recycling Services LLC, a division of Nucor, is seeking a Shredder Maintenance Supervisor in Gastonia, NC to directly manage shredding department operations, heavy equipment maintenance, and plant safety. Candidates must possess at least a High School Diploma or GED, 3+ years of management experience in a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment, and hands-on experience in scrap metal operations and electrical/mechanical equipment maintenance.

Key Job Duties
Department & Operations Leadership: Supervise day-to-day plant operations, lead operators and maintenance personnel, establish work schedules, coordinate with facility managers, and support long-range planning, budgeting, and monthly inventory.
Maintenance & Equipment Oversight: Direct the operational upkeep and preventive/predictive maintenance of the shredder, downstream processing units, mobile equipment, and material handling systems while managing parts ordering.
Safety, Compliance & Client Relations: Enforce environmental and safety policies across all shifts, act as a safety role model, and cultivate positive relationships with internal contacts and customers.

Position Requirements
Education & Experience: High School Diploma or GED required, combined with either a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, or Engineering or a minimum of 3 years management experience in heavy industrial/manufacturing settings.
Technical & Industry Background: Proven hands-on experience operating and maintaining heavy equipment, scrap metal processing units, and electrical/mechanical systems.
Leadership & Professional Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, proficiency in computer software (Word, Excel, Outlook), expertise in lean manufacturing or inventory management, and a commitment to maintaining a drug-free workplace (passing urine and hair follicle screenings).
