Job Description:

Shutdown Planner - Quincy, IL

This is a permanent, full-time, exempt-level position located on-site at our Quincy, IL processing site.

Job Summary

The execution of plant shutdowns is a complex and critical component of the facility lifecycle.

As a Shutdown Planner, you will be responsible for transforming work orders into detailed, executable job packages. These packages will include step-by-step job plans (man-hours and durations), location/plot plans, marked-up photos and drawings, and applicable specifications, all designed to minimize ambiguity and maximize efficiency during execution.

A well-developed plan is the foundation of every successful shutdown. In this role, you will review work orders identified within the shutdown scope, perform field walkdowns, develop comprehensive plans, and support execution through to completion. You will also serve as a key point of contact for field personnel, acting as the job representative during execution.

The ideal candidate is a proactive self-starter who prioritizes safety, thrives in fast-paced environments, demonstrates strong leadership capabilities, and communicates effectively across teams.

Key Responsibilities

+ Develop detailed job plans, including labor requirements, sequencing, and duration estimates

+ Build the foundation of the shutdown schedule based on job scope and resource needs

+ Coordinate Simultaneous Operations (SIMOPS) across multiple crafts and disciplines

+ Integrate maintenance, operations, and engineering activities into a cohesive shutdown plan

+ Conduct field walkdowns to validate scope, identify constraints, and refine plans

+ Capture and document lessons learned throughout all phases of the shutdown

+ Collaborate with the Shutdown Manager to develop and execute resource plans

+ Order, track, receive, and stage materials required for shutdown activities

+ Provide field coordination and oversight during execution to ensure plans are followed

Required Qualifications

+ Minimum of 5 years of maintenance planning experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment

+ Demonstrated experience using Maximo or SAP PM for planning and scheduling

+ Strong organizational and time management skills

+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

+ Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

+ Ability to travel to manufacturing facilities as needed

Excited about this role but don’t think you meet every requirement listed? Studies have shown that applicants may self "select-out" of consideration if they do not meet all posted requirements. We encourage you to apply anyway. You may be just the right candidate for this role or another one of our openings.

ADM requires the successful completion of a background check.
