Shuttle Driver (Per Diem)
Landmark College is currently seeking a per diem Shuttle Driver to operate College-owned, leased, or rented vehicles to provide safe and dependable transportation for students, faculty, staff, and visitors to and from designated locations, maintain shuttle schedules and routes, and provide insight to enhance operations.
Specific Responsibilities
- Operate campus passenger shuttle vehicles and provide routine assistance supporting transportation services:
- Pick up and drop off passengers following established guidelines and schedules.
- Make deviations to the shuttle schedule as appropriate and requested by students.
- Ensure passenger comfort and safety.
- Operate shuttles to destinations across the Northeast region, including but not limited to bus and train stations, airports, and hotels.
- Operate shuttles for student clubs and organizations, student internships, athletics teams, academic field trips, student activity trips, and other general destinations across the Northeast region.
- Provide transportation for students to medical appointments to and from the hospital and to the pharmacy as available.
- Ability to safely operate vehicles in various conditions, including all types of weather such as inclement weather.
- Complete a pre-trip and post-trip inspection of the vehicle used, report any damage or mechanical failures, and maintain appropriate records.
- Submit reports to the Facilities Department at the end of each trip or shift.
- Submit work orders to the Facilities Department as needed.
- Complete thorough end-of-shift responsibilities, including:
- Ensuring the vehicle is clear of trash and debris.
- Returning all keys, clipboard, and pre- and post-trip documentation.
- Parking the vehicle with a full fuel tank.
- Complete a shuttle ridership tracking rider log and spreadsheet; submit logs to Student Affairs weekly.
- Enforce the Colleges RUSH Principles and Student Code of Conduct; submit an incident report for any violations concerning incidents or behavior.
- Check College-assigned e-mail accounts regularly for communication; be available by phone for scheduled updates via text messages and conversation as necessary.
- Maintain strong customer service when engaging with all riders, including students, parents, staff, faculty, and visitors.
- Demonstrate good listening skills, effective communication, respect, and consideration for others.
- Promote positive, collaborative relationships with students through example.
- Always represent the College well.
- Gather and report feedback by actively soliciting recommendations from riders regarding their experience and any suggestions for improvement to shuttle operations.
- Maintain resources provided by the college, which may include but are not limited to cell phones, GPS, and E-ZPass.
- Clean the interior and exterior of the vehicles as necessary.
- Be familiar with and adhere to all College policies and procedures.
- Flexibility to work in a variety of environments.
- Operate other shuttle services as assigned by the Dean of Students and Director of Student Engagement or designee.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Requires a valid non-commercial Class C drivers license and an excellent driving record.
- Experience in another position where driving a motor vehicle was a primary duty is preferred.
- Experience with hitching and unhitching trailers.
- Skilled in maneuvering vehicles with trailers.
- Ability to operate all College vehicles, wheelchair lifts, and properly secure riders in a wheelchair.
- Physically capable of assisting people who require special assistance to embark or disembark from a vehicle.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
- Training in CPR is desirable.
- Candidates will be subject to a background check.
Position Details
- Type: Per diem position.
- Hours: Available as needed and can be flexible depending on qualifications, availability, and need.
- Work Environment:
- This is a per diem, in-person position that operates when students are living on campus.
- The position may not have consistent hours each week.
- The work environment involves everyday risks and discomforts that require normal safety precautions.
- Night and weekend work is required.
- Physical Demands:
- Typically, the employee can sit comfortably for extended periods to do the work.
- However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, and an occasional need to lift, carry, and/or drag approximately 25 pounds.
- Some repetitive motions are performed in typing and word processing.
- On occasion, this position may have extended periods in heat/frigid temperatures.
Compensation
At Landmark College, our compensation philosophy reflects our institutional values, our commitment to fairness and equity, and our role as a transformative educational community. The compensation for the above position is $17.80 - $25.33 per hour.
