Position Overview
Stand-By Personnel is seeking an experienced Side Frame Welder for a manufacturing opportunity in Claremore. This position is responsible for fitting, assembling, and welding side frames and structural components used in air cooler and related metal assemblies.
The ideal candidate has previous manufacturing or fabrication welding experience, can read basic blueprints and measurements, and is comfortable fitting, clamping, aligning, and welding components to required dimensions.
Strong attention to weld quality, dimensional accuracy, and workplace safety is essential.
Required Experience & Skills
Previous welding experience in manufacturing or fabrication required
Experience with MIG, TIG, and/or Flux Core welding processes
Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints
Ability to follow fabrication drawings and work orders
Strong measurement skills
Experience fitting and aligning components before welding
Ability to set up and adjust welding equipment
Strong attention to weld quality and dimensional accuracy
Ability to identify and correct basic welding defects
Strong understanding of welding safety practices
Ability to work independently and as part of a production team
Dependable attendance and strong work ethic
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Weld and assemble side frames and structural components
Read and follow blueprints, drawings, and work orders
Perform MIG, TIG, and/or Flux Core welding according to production requirements
Weld carbon steel and other applicable metals
Measure and position components before welding
Fit components according to required dimensions
Clamp and align parts before tack-up
Tack components into position
Complete final welds according to applicable specifications
Set up and adjust welding equipment
Operate applicable hand and fabrication tools
Inspect completed welds for quality and accuracy
Verify completed assemblies meet dimensional requirements
Identify weld defects or fit-up concerns
Correct defects when required
Work with Production and Quality personnel to meet daily goals
Maintain clean and organized work areas
Follow all company safety procedures and PPE requirements
Perform additional welding and fabrication duties as assigned
Side Frame Assembly
Candidates may regularly perform:
Side frame fabrication
Structural component assembly
Material positioning
Component fit-up
Clamping and alignment
Tack welding
Final welding
Dimensional verification
Finished assembly inspection
Accuracy during fit-up is important to ensure completed frames maintain the required dimensions and structural integrity.
Welding Processes
Depending on production requirements, candidates may work with:
MIG / GMAW
TIG / GTAW
Flux Core / FCAW
Tack welding
General structural fabrication processes
The specific welding process may vary depending on the component and production assignment.
Blueprint & Measurement Responsibilities
Candidates should be able to:
Read basic fabrication blueprints
Interpret drawings and work orders
Identify required measurements
Verify component dimensions
Determine proper part positioning
Check alignment before welding
Compare completed assemblies against applicable requirements
Identify dimensional discrepancies
Fit-Up & Alignment
Position side frame components
Fit materials according to drawings
Clamp components securely
Align parts before welding
Verify dimensions before tack-up
Maintain proper positioning throughout welding
Make fit-up adjustments when necessary
Help ensure finished frames maintain structural integrity
Welding Equipment & Tools
Candidates may regularly use:
Welding machines
Clamps
Tape measures
Squares
Grinders
Basic hand tools
Fabrication equipment
Other production tools as assigned
Quality Responsibilities
Inspect completed welds for visible defects
Verify weld quality and workmanship
Check assemblies for dimensional accuracy
Identify fit-up or alignment concerns
Correct defects when required
Maintain consistent workmanship throughout production
Work with Quality personnel when inspection concerns arise
Help prevent nonconforming assemblies from advancing through production

Side Frame Welder experience
Structural welding experience
Air cooler manufacturing experience
MIG welding experience
TIG welding experience
Flux Core welding experience
Carbon steel fabrication experience
Manufacturing welding experience
Blueprint-reading experience
Fitting and assembly experience
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the shift
Frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, lifting, carrying, positioning, pushing, and pulling
Ability to lift and handle materials throughout the workday
Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination required for welding and fit-up
Ability to safely operate welding and fabrication equipment
Comfortable performing physically active fabrication work throughout the shift
Ability to safely work around metal components, welding equipment, sparks, heat, and industrial machinery
Ability to wear all required PPE
Work Environment
Industrial manufacturing and fabrication environment
Regular work around side frames, structural components, welding machines, and fabrication tools
Hands-on position involving fitting, alignment, welding, inspection, and assembly
