Position Overview
Stand-By Personnel is seeking a dependable Side Loader Forklift Operator to join a fast-paced warehouse team in Oklahoma City. This position is responsible for retrieving long steel products from warehouse racks, pulling materials according to work orders, and staging completed orders for the third-shift loading crew.
The ideal candidate has previous forklift experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to safely maneuver large, heavy materials in an active industrial warehouse environment.
Required Experience & Skills
Previous forklift operating experience required
Side loader forklift experience is a plus
Ability to safely operate equipment around long, heavy materials
Ability to accurately read work orders, product labels, and measurements
Strong attention to detail and order accuracy
Strong commitment to workplace safety
Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced warehouse environment
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Operate a side loader forklift to retrieve long steel products from warehouse storage racks
Pull materials accurately according to work orders and customer specifications
Transport and stage completed orders for the third-shift loading crew
Verify product sizes, quantities, and condition before staging orders
Safely handle long and heavy steel bundles using appropriate material-handling procedures
Organize staged materials to support efficient loading operations
Maintain an organized, clean, and safe warehouse work area
Communicate with team members to ensure orders are completed accurately and on schedule
Follow all company forklift, warehouse, and workplace safety procedures
Assist with additional warehouse and material-handling duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
Previous side loader forklift experience
Steel warehouse or metal distribution experience
Lumber, pipe, structural material, or other long-product handling experience
Industrial warehouse experience
Experience pulling and staging customer orders
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, and material handling throughout the shift
Ability to safely enter and exit forklift equipment repeatedly
Comfortable working around long, heavy steel products and industrial equipment
Ability to perform physically demanding warehouse work while wearing required PPE
Work Environment
Industrial warehouse and steel distribution environment
Regular operation of forklifts around long and heavy materials
Fast-paced setting requiring strong spatial awareness, accuracy, and safety
Frequent interaction with warehouse personnel and loading crews
Second-shift position responsible for preparing orders for third-shift loading operations
