Sidewalk Safety Coordinator

Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm
Hourly Rate: $22.00 USD
SUMMARY:
The Sidewalk Safety Coordinator inspects sidewalks throughout the city and responds to residents and property owners who are seeking assistance in identifying and resolving sidewalk safety issues or building code concerns. The Sidewalk Safety Coordinator provides education on building codes and building codes related to sidewalks. The Sidewalk Safety Coordinator works with residents and property owners on their responsibilities related to building codes and sidewalk codes and provides information on how to resolve issues before enforcement action is necessary. The Sidewalk Safety Coordinator inspects, documents, photographs, and issues notices of violation, noncompliance, and final notices.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required in this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee typically works in an office setting but may be exposed to outside weather conditions while performing the essential duties of the role. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. There is the possibility of exposure to animals that could result in a bite or other injury.
TRAVEL:
Travel is minimal (estimated ~5%) and consists mostly of local travel with potential overnight travel for conferences in and out of state.
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
This is a part-time position, approximately 20 hours per week. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. The position may require up to 50% of the time spent driving within the city to perform the essential duties of the role. Evening, weekend and work hour adjustments may be required as job duties demand.
