    Description

    A day in the life

You arrive on site, greet the customer, and power up a new EMAG machine tool. Before lunch you’ve verified safety circuits, run I/O checks, and tuned Siemens drives. By mid‑afternoon you’re refining PLC logic in TIA Portal, adjusting a WinCC HMI screen, and running acceptance tests. You close the day by coaching operators, documenting findings, and setting up remote support for the next phase. Tomorrow, you’ll do it again—somewhere else in North America, or wherever EMAG customers need you.

    What you’ll take on

    • Install, commission, and validate EMAG machine tools and automation systems at customer facilities.
    • Diagnose and repair control systems: PLCs, HMIs, drives, sensors, motors, and related electrical components.
    • Set up and optimize Siemens platforms: SINUMERIK, SIMATIC PLCs, TIA Portal, STEP 7, WinCC, and Siemens drive technologies.
    • Lead startups: system verification, I/O checks, safety circuit validation, and operational testing.
    • Troubleshoot electrical, controls, communication, and automation issues using schematics, software diagnostics, and test equipment.
    • Modify PLC logic, tweak HMI screens, adjust parameters, and update control configurations as needed.
    • Execute machine acceptance testing and support customer buy‑off.
    • Train maintenance staff, operators, programmers, and engineering teams on operation, controls, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance.
    • Provide remote technical support and collaborate with Engineering, Commissioning, Mechanical Service, and Customer Service.
    • Create detailed service reports capturing work performed, root causes, corrective actions, and recommendations.
    • Support upgrades, retrofits, control modernizations, and software enhancements.
    • Contribute to commissioning procedures, troubleshooting guides, and technical documentation improvements.
    • Follow all customer and EMAG safety policies on site while representing the brand professionally.

    What you bring

    • Associate or Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, Industrial Controls, or a related field preferred.
    • Journeyman Electrician certification or strong industrial electrical background considered in lieu of a degree.
    • 5+ years in industrial controls, machine tool service, automation, or electrical commissioning.

    Skills and attributes

    • Strong command of Siemens automation platforms.
    • Reads electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, ladder logic, and technical documentation with ease.

    • Familiarity with Fanuc, Siemens, or other industrial controls.
    • Knowledge of ISO 9001/14001 fundamentals.
    • Organized, calm under pressure, personable, and dependable; works well independently and in teams.
