About the Role

FASTSIGNS Oakland is looking for a hands-on, detail-oriented Sign Installer to join our team. This role is critical to delivering high-quality signage and graphics to our clients across the Bay Area. From walls and windows to vehicles and construction zones, your work will bring brands to life in the real world.

The ideal candidate is reliable, self-motivated, physically capable, and ready to grow. Prior sign or construction experience is a plus, but were also open to motivated candidates with strong soft skills and interest in learning the trade. Were looking for someone who can become a core part of our install team - someone our clients recognize, trust, and request by name.

Core Responsibilities

  • Sign Installation: Install a wide variety of signage, including dimensional letters, vinyl graphics, ADA signage, standoff-mounted panels, window films, wall murals, and more. Work on walls, ceilings, vehicles, glass, drywall, concrete, and other surfaces. Start with interior and basic installs and grow into more complex exterior and high-visibility projects as you gain experience.
  • Site Preparation and Assessment: Review project packets, site photos, or conduct site visits to plan each install. Confirm measurements, understand surfaces, and ensure hardware and tools are ready before arriving on site.
  • Shop Prep: Assist in preparing signs and materials before installs: inserting studs, disassembling standoffs, organizing tools and hardware kits, and coordinating with the QC team.
  • Tools & Equipment Operation: Safely use hand tools, drills, levels, lifts, ladders, and measuring devices. Help maintain tools and equipment in good working order.
  • Problem Solving: Think on your feet to adapt to field conditions. Work with our senior installer to solve issues related to uneven surfaces, mounting limitations, or unforeseen obstructions while staying within safety and quality standards.
  • Documentation & Communication: Fill out install logs, take completion photos, and note any issues for follow-up. Communicate job status to the team and document client feedback or requests.
  • Safety: Always follow safety protocols - whether in the field, the shop, or in a lift. Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.

Desired Skills & Qualifications

You do not need to check every box to apply. Were interested in your potential and attitude.

  • Hands-On Experience: Experience in signage, construction, carpentry, or other hands-on fields is helpful but not required if you can demonstrate strong reliability, learning ability, and comfort with tools.
  • Sign & Mounting Knowledge: Familiarity with sign types, mounting methods, and fasteners is a plus.
  • Tool Comfort: Comfort using ladders, lifts, drills, and hand tools (or willingness to learn with training).
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50+ lbs, work at heights, and be on your feet most of the day.
  • Driving Record: Clean driving record and valid drivers license (CDL not required but a plus).
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Work Style: Comfortable working solo or as part of a team.
  • Attention to Detail: Detail-oriented with pride in precision and clean execution.
  • Attendance: Great, almost perfect attendance record.
  • Certification: 3M installation certification or interest in earning it (we support training!).

Bonus Points For

  • ADA Signage Experience: Experience installing ADA-compliant signage.
  • Installation Knowledge: Familiarity with standoffs, anchor types, and drywall/masonry installations.
  • Vinyl & Wrap Experience: Vinyl application or vehicle wrap experience.
  • Language Skills: Spanish-speaking or multilingual.
  • Industry Experience: Previous FASTSIGNS or sign industry experience.
