POSITION: Signer/Interpreter Substitute - American Sign Language (ASL)

LOCATION: District Wide

SALARY: $24.07 per hour - Assistant Educational Signer/Interpreter

$33.29 per hour - Signer/Interpreter- EIPA 4.0

SCHEDULE: Varies

180-day work year

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: (Qualifications which are essential to the position)

• High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
• Proficient sign language skills in a variety of systems
• Proficient in American Sign Language required.
• Evidence of successful ability to work with the deaf/hard of hearing
• Demonstrated ability to carry out prescribed instructional management program
• Patience and warmth in working with students
• Ability to assume role of educational assistant and role of interpreter
• Demonstrated exemplary customer service and responsiveness
• Ability to work effectively with professionals in a school setting
• Must work within designated bounds of authority and confidentiality
• Demonstrated punctuality and an excellent work attendance record
• Ability to establish and maintain professional, cooperative, working relationships
• Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with staff, students, and patrons
• Ability to follow safe work practices and procedures

QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED: (Qualifications which are not required, but would be useful to the position)

• Successful experience interpreting for hearing impaired students in a school setting.
• Bilingual/Biliterate English/Spanish.
• Passing score on EIPA prior to start date, preferred.

TYPICAL DUTIES:

• Working with hearing impaired students.
