Job Description

General Purpose of Job:

Responsible for the management of the patient care area 24 hours per day. Plans, directs, coordinates and evaluates all intradepartmental and interdepartmental activities related to department.

Essential Duties:

This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Associates may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.

• Plans, implements, direct, delegates and evaluates patient care throughout department(s).
• Expert resource for nursing performance and ancillary staff consultant.
• Recommends, develops, implements, and evaluates policies and procedures.
• Assures regulatory compliance.
• Interviews, hires, and provides direction, appraisal, and discipline to nursing personnel.
• Plans, develops and implements annual competency evaluation for nursing personnel.
• Develops work schedules as assigned, adjusts daily schedules as needed.
• Participates in performance improvement, staff and patient education activities, and documentation.
• Promotes cost effectiveness, develops budget for department with Director and approval of CNO.
• Ensures distribution and delivery of supplies and equipment for patient care, monitoring utilization.
• Responds to all emergencies and disasters within the organization.
• Conducts and documents daily rounding throughout the department and with patients.
• Monthly documented caregiver rounds.

Job Requirements

General Requirements • Current License in the State of Michigan as an RN • ACLS • PALS, TNCC preferred Work Experience • Minimum of five years Med/Surg nursing experience. • Minimum of three years increasing responsibility in healthcare setting • Intermediate or Critical Care experience preferred Education • Graduate of an accredited nursing program • Bachelor's or advanced degree in nursing • Master's degree or advanced degree in nursing preferred Specialized Knowledge and Skills • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills, including effective interpersonal skills. • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and strong attention to detail.
