Job Description
General Purpose of Job:
Develops and implements occupational therapy treatment plans for assigned patients; evaluates and modifies patient care treatments as appropriate.
Essential Duties:
This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Caregivers may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.
Job Requirements
General Requirements • Valid State of Michigan Occupational Therapist Certification/Registration and licensure • CPR/BLS certification • CHT preferred Work Experience • Prefer OT skilled in development of orthotics/ application of splinting who has either attained their CHT or is working toward their CHT. • Proficiency in orthotic fabrication. Education • Graduate of an accredited school of Occupational Therapy Specialized Knowledge and Skills • Knowledge of occupational therapy theory and techniques • Knowledge of accrediting and regulatory standards and hospital policies related to the provision of rehabilitation services including HIPAA confidentiality and JCAHO mandates • Written and computer skills necessary to prepare required documentation • Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate, orally and in written form, with patients, families, physicians, health care professionals, and insurance companies in the exchange of information. Presents self in a warm, professional and caring manner • Skills necessary to provide guidance, training, prioritize and review the work of assigned staff • Demonstrates professional appearance • Analytical ability to develop treatment plans based on occupational therapy theory and incorporation of patient and physician goals • Mental ability to complete required documentation in a timely manner, deal with the concerns of patients and their families, and handle frequent scheduling changes • Physical ability to stand for prolonged periods of time, transfer/lift/ reposition patients, assist patients with exercises, and properly operate rehabilitation equipment/devices, and access patient homes which may not be barrier free • Demonstrates ability to use a keyboard as may be required to perform the essential duties of the job
