The University of Maryland, Baltimore has an exciting opportunity for a Simulation Education Strategist (Simulation Training Specialist) to join the Department of Anesthesiology Education.

The University of Maryland's Anesthesiology Simulation Program encompasses all anesthesia delivery and teaching areas within the institution. University of Maryland School of Medicine Department of Anesthesiology has integrated simulation into its education and training program for medical students, residents, fellows, CRNAs, allied health professionals and faculty to develop and enhance their anesthesia and related cognitive, clinical, and team skills. Training is conducted at the University of Maryland Medical Center, Downtown Campus.

Primary Duties

  • Assists with design simulation training scenarios in collaboration with the Director of Simulation and Training and faculty.
  • Provides structure and guidance to students, nurses, residents, physicians, and faculty during simulation. Educates on any introductory information for each scenario that may help participants perform better in the simulations. Presents each scenario to participants.
  • In collaboration with faculty and physicians, assists in developing curriculum, student learning outcomes and educational materials for simulation scenarios and scripts. Participate in the development of simulation training materials such as manuals and online guides.
  • Maintains proficiency in existing and emerging technologies. Participates in technology training and attends conferences to stay current with simulation technology.
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures for simulation and learning labs.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains effective mechanisms for ongoing relationships/partnerships with department managers through participation in work groups/task forces and by assisting in the design of long-range training/development plans.
  • May perform simple technical assistance in the functional aspects of simulation including setup and maintenance of simulation skill labs and task training equipment. Responsibilities include setting up, operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing simulation equipment, and hospital-type equipment and/or audio visual/information technology equipment used in simulation activities. Instructs and assists with simulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor''s degree in education, nursing, health sciences, or a technology or clinically related field.

Experience: Two (2) years of clinical experience and one (1) year in simulation technology, clinical teaching, or clinical education.

Other: Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 undergraduate college credits being equivalent to one year of related experience. In instances where specific education and/or experience is required only directly related education and/or experience may be substituted.

Hiring Range: $86,000 - $92,000, commensurate with education and experience.
