Position Summary This position will support the Health and Nursing divisions at Southeast Technical College (STC), by providing vital technical support and expertise in simulation operation that includes preparation, maintenance and repair of complex computerized simulators and associated software. Efficient oversight and operations of data systems and video capturing management is required. Essential Functions Oversee the planning, operation, and optimization of health and nursing simulation systems, including computerized patient simulators, software platforms, audiovisual capture systems, and related technologies, to ensure instructional readiness and program effectiveness.
Exercise independent judgment in the configuration, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of complex simulation equipment, determining appropriate solutions, vendor engagement, and escalation when necessary.
Develop, manage, and monitor simulation equipment maintenance plans, including coordination with external vendors, evaluation of service contracts, and tracking of warranties, lifecycle status, and replacement timelines.
Manage simulation technology inventory and associated budgets, including analysis of equipment needs, preparation of cost estimates and quotes, and recommendations for repair, replacement, or acquisition of new technologies.
Serve as a technical resource and advisor to faculty and instructional staff, providing guidance on the effective use of simulation technologies to support curriculum objectives, learner outcomes, and safe instructional practices.
Research emerging simulation and instructional technologies, assess their applicability to health and nursing education, and present recommendations for potential integration to division leadership.
Maintain professional expertise in simulation technologies and practices, applying new knowledge to improve system performance, faculty support, and training opportunities.
Support a learning environment that promotes safety, professionalism, dignity, and compliance, ensuring simulation operations align with institutional standards and educational best practices.
Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by analyzing operational processes, identifying opportunities for increased efficiency or effectiveness, and implementing approved enhancements.
Perform other professional duties as assigned, consistent with the scope and level of responsibility of an exempt technical professional role.
Set-up and troubleshooting of patient care simulators.
Repair and maintenance of equipment and patient care simulators.
Set-up and track preventive maintenance with simulator companies.
Organize equipment for effective storage and ease of access
Order supplies for equipment maintenance and repair
Maintain equipment inventory including warranty, associated product accessories, and budget related information.
Repair, update, obtain quotes for equipment replacements or additions needed.
Research innovative technologies, sharing with team members and proposing potential integration of such
Maintain currency in simulation related knowledge to support team professional development training needs
Support a positive learning environment that promotes dignity, self-respect, safety, and personal and professional growth.
Apply new knowledge acquired through professional growth activities and technical education. Perform other duties as assigned
Position Qualifications Education: Associate's degree or higher in Electronics, Mechatronics, Automation, or a related field required.
Experience: minimum 2 years' experience in simulation, electronics, or related field
Other requirements: Computer skills: Ability to use email systems, word processing, and spreadsheet software
Leadership: ability to make decisions, delegate tasks, be innovative, negotiate, problem solve, build teams through coaching and development, resolve conflicts, hold yourself and other accountable, and work under pressure.
CHSE certified or obtain certification within the first two years of employment.
Physical Demands and Work Environment General office environment with standard office equipment. Lighting and temperature are adequate. Moderate noise levels typical of an office environment due to staff and student conversations and noise from office equipment. Additional equipment associated with ancillary instruction may be available and may have effect on lighting, sound, and temperature. Occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions when traveling to other locations.
