This is a temporary part-time, professional expert position subject to availability of funding
Provide the technical expertise to support the use of simulation in the nursing program. Responsible for preparing, operating, and maintaining skills lab equipment, media, computers, task trainers, IV simulators, mannequin-based simulators, and materials related to simulation learning and virtual hospital. Provide support to the Skills/Simulation Coordinator, answer student and faculty questions and assist them with simulation work. Assist in the preparation for nursing lab or simulation clinical experiences. Contribute to the design, upgrade, development, testing, implementation and feedback of simulation training materials and scenarios.
- Set up simulation supplies/equipment necessary to meet objectives.
- Assist in scheduling, monitoring, and reporting student attendance, participation, and utilization of skills laboratory and simulation activities.
- Use standardized simulations scenarios as requested or available; program software as per instructor specifications.
- Assist in role playing applications, prop placement, and moulage set-up to create a virtual healthcare setting.
- Operate moderate and high fidelity simulation mannequins including HPS (human patient simulator), computerized simulations, task trainers, and virtual procedure simulators.
- Knowledge in the operations of various simulation product lines including simulation mannequins.
- Make appropriate adjustments to simulators based on participant actions.
- Provide feedback on improvements/upgrades to Skills/Simulation Coordinator
- Assist faculty in the use of simulation equipment.
- Serve as a resource for faculty utilizing simulation.
- Conduct tours and simulation sessions for internal/external groups or individuals.
- Troubleshoot and collaborate in maintenance and repair of simulation software and equipment to maintain in optimal working condition.
- Create troubleshooting documents, simulator checklist, and operations checklist for simulation equipment.
- Provide recommendations for budget and purchase of equipment, supplies, and material related to simulation.
- Communicate the need for supplies and equipment used in simulation.
- Maintain current knowledge of simulation operation manuals and equipment catalogs.
- Attend meetings to maintain currency with simulation technology and use.
- Operate and maintain audio/visual equipment used in simulation.
- Perform other duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Some ways to obtain the relevant education and experience:
- Possession of a valid Vocational Nurse, Registered Nurse, or other healthcare license.
- Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator.
- Formal training and/or knowledge in the healthcare field.
- High school degree or higher;
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office based programs;
- Effective oral and written communication techniques;
- Ability to learn and operate specialized computer equipment and software;
- Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff;
- Demonstrated evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds in a community college environment.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
This is a part-time, temporary, hourly professional expert position. Continued employment is contingent upon approval of the Chaffey College Governing Board.
Being able and ready to work in-person with Chaffey students, Chaffey employees, or other members of the Chaffey community/Chaffey partners/Chaffey contractors is an essential function of this job.
