In addition to the CON , services may be provided in other simulation spaces on Health Sciences campus after cross-training is provided. The position supports preparing, running and maintaining low, mid-range, and high-fidelity simulations through the use of task trainers, patient simulators, virtual reality and standardized patients (actors) in a fun and educational atmosphere. The simulation specialist independently operates Simulation Center equipment and provides support to students, faculty and other users. Work includes independently managing AV in simulation rooms and manikin set-up/take down, application of moulage (movie make-up), set-up of medical equipment and supplies, and recording and playback of simulation events. The specialist may also support Objective Structured Clinical Examinations, Interprofessional Education, immersive simulation experiences and other scheduled inpatient and outpatient simulation learning activities at the University Hospitals and Clinics. This position has no responsibility for providing direct care to patients. This position will require working flexible shifts potentially including evenings and weekends. Set-up for simulation events accurately and timely including: Equipment, manikin(s), moulage, manikin programming, video, debriefing audio visual, video capture, and automatic medication dispensing units stocked for correct patient, reading full scenario, understanding the case and asking questions for clarification. 2. Provides first line technical support for computer-based multimedia systems and components, operation of digital cameras, video cameras, digital/analog converter, tablets, and various manikins. 3. Clean-up and reset of simulation rooms including debriefing rooms, restocking of disposable supply carts, cleaning moulage from manikins (all fluids and equipment), cleaning and rinsing all internal components, changing and restocking linens, removal of all supplies and equipment not included in standard room/bay set-up, and wipe-down of all surfaces including whiteboard when needed. 4. Support simulation events by assisting simulation facilitators with multimedia systems, operation of all technical equipment, restocking and turnover between scenarios, assisting standardized patients/confederates, and any details needed by simulation facilitators such as printing or clarifications. 5. Attend and actively contribute to regular team meetings. 6. Assigned projects, to include regular team updates and communication, are completed and signed off within agreed timeline. 7. Shows a high degree of professionalism by collaborating with team members and clients, regular communication, following dress code, completing compliance trainings on time, and punctuality. 8. Work Environment includes bending, lifting at least 50 lbs. with assistance, and some office work. 9. Other relevant duties as assigned. Physical Requirements and Level of Frequency that may be required Nearly Continuously: Sitting, hearing, listening, talking. Often: Repetitive hand motion (such as typing), walking, bending, reaching overhead, lifting and moving objects such as manikins and medical devices. **Minimum Qualifications** _Minimum of three years’ experience in information technology, medical technology, medical simulation, and/or related technological/simulation experience (e.g. computers, manikins, monitoring systems, Microsoft Office). Bachelor’s degree or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) in a related field is preferred._ _Ability to quickly absorb technical details of new technologies. Demonstrated ability to work as a team member and independently. Ability to analyze, prioritize, and make decisions related to coordination of equipment, supplies and general trouble shooting. Strong organizational skills required for time management and to prioritize conflicting demands. Customer service oriented with effective communication skills. Self-motivated and willing to learn new skills.
