SUBJECT: Site Administrator: Summer - Music Unites Program - District Wide Program

REPORTS TO: Office of Teaching and Learning and Performing Arts Liaison

ANTICIPATED START DATE: June 22, 2026

Worcester UNITES is a district-wide beyond school hours program for student instrumentalists in grades 3-12. We are not a traditional band/orchestra program. We engage students in all aspects of the El Sistema principles of Citizen, Artist and Scholar Every day, Everywhere. This program is unique because it is student coaches teaching students. High school student coaches lead sectionals, and participate with adult staff in all leadership decisions and responsibilities. Students participate in group lessons, sectionals, ensemble rehearsals and performances. They also have fun, participating in crafts, games, competitions and team building activities.

The program runs at South High School:

June 22nd - 3:00-5:00PM Planning Meeting

June 23rd - 3:00-5:00PM

June 24th, 25th, 26th - 8:30AM-2:30PM

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Submit timesheets.
  2. Supports students and teachers as needed
  3. Maintain records on all participating students
  4. Plans and leads planning time meetings with staff
  5. Manage and submit attendance.
  6. Manage snack counts, lunch counts and other nutrition related duties
  7. First Aid, CPR, EpiPen training
  8. Participate in school nutrition training
  9. Coordinate arrival and departure of students and student coaches.
  10. Maintain security of the building and liaise as needed with school based staff.
  11. Manage and coordinate parent/guardian communications, early pick-ups etc.
  12. Communicate with families through Google Classroom, Parent Square
  13. Document the program with video, pictures and other media
  14. Maintain and store an inventory of UNITES materials, scores, name tags, games etc.
  15. Manage and support positive behaviors. Handle discipline issues.
  16. Produces concerts, develops programs, prints programs and notices.
  17. Supervises student coaches and directors.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. DESE license as Principal/Assistant Principal or Supervisor/Director with SEI endorsement
  2. CPR and CPI certification
  3. Experience coordinating after-school and summer programs
  4. Experience working with community agencies
  5. Teaching experience at the appropriate level
  6. SEI endorsement
  7. Grant coordination, reporting and writing experience.

Preference will be given to qualified Unit B individuals on the South High Staff

WORK YEAR: This is an out-of-school time program.

SALARY: Contractual rate per contract
