SITE COORDINATOR

Person will be responsible for the smooth operation of the Before/After School Program at one location.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High School graduate

2. Must be certified in Community First Aid/CPR

3. Reliable, responsible adult

4. Enjoys working with elementary school-age children

5. Knowledgeable about child development

6. Possesses group leadership skills

7. Capable of active involvement in indoor and outdoor games and activities

8. Able to plan and implement arts and crafts projects

9. Relates well to parents, staff and students, as well as school personnel.

10. Will be required to pass N.J. criminal background check.

PERFORMANCE OF DUTIES:

• Be present at the program site at least 15 minutes before the program begins. Remain until all BSP children go to class or all ASP children have been picked up by parent/designated person.
• Take accurate attendance. (The After School Program staff must be able to account for each child enrolled in the program.)
• Responsible for the smooth running of the program.
• Maintain up-to-date file for each child/family.
• Monitor the movement of the children.
• Assure the safety and well-being of the children. Administer simple first aid as needed. Call for emergency assistance if needed and complete accident reports when necessary.
• Establish discipline guidelines (rules/consequences) to be enforced consistently and fairly; write discipline referral if warranted.
• Plan, organize and direct a variety of daily activities, taking into account the wide range of ages and interests of the students.
• Secure materials needed for the program activities.
• Supervise distribution of snacks.
• Responsible for the supervision and maintenance of the program space, equipment and supplies.
• Direct and supervise the assistant(s) and aide. Provide an accurate time sheet for each staff person. Assist in preparing evaluation forms for assistant(s) and aide, as requested by the District Coordinator.
• Establish and maintain good relations with the school staff.
• Keep District Coordinator informed of any situations or events that occur during program time, or in some other way, impacts on the B/ASP.
• Carry out all other duties as assigned.

Work Hours

• Before School Program: Generally 6:45 a.m. to 9: a.m. each school day.
• After School Program: Generally 2:30 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. each school day; from
• 12:30 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. on days when the elementary schools dismiss early. ASP site coordinator is responsible for each child until he/she is picked up from the program by a parent or authorized person.

Note: Some special education classes have different arrival and dismissal times. It may be necessary for a BSP staff site coordinator to work a little later each day or an ASP site coordinator to come in earlier each day in order to accommodate the special education students enrolled in B/ASP.

• Expected to attend scheduled staff meetings, including two prior to the opening of school.
• Required to have a minimum of 12 hours of professional development per year. Encouraged to attend workshops and to read books and articles related to the school-age children and their care.

EMPLOYMENT TERMS: 10-month position

COMPENSATION:

Full-time Site Coordinators work both the Before School Program and the After School Program. Salary will be commensurate to experience, along with all benefits received by a District 6-hour employee.

Part-time Site Coordinators work either the Before School Program or the After School Program. They receive a salary commensurate to their experience and the number of hours worked, along with sick and personal time comparable to a 3-hour employee in the District. May also work in the "opposite" program for an hourly rate as an assistant or group leader; the combined hours cannot exceed 29 hours per week.
