Site Safety Health Officer (SSHO) - ConstructionWe are seeking a SSHO that will facilitate compliance with occupational safety and health administration (OSHA) guidelines, provide advice on measures to minimize hazards or unhealthy situations and be on a constant lookout for safety violations. The ideal candidate will be a responsible individual who understands and follows OSHA regulations, be detail-oriented and ready to act in emergencies. The goal is to establish a safe workplace according to legal standards and foster a culture of attention to health and safety.A minimum of five (5) years in Dredging or Marine Construction Site Safety Health Officer (SSHO) Experience and a minimum of Three (3) years of continuous construction as a SSHO on USACE Marine Construction Projects. Job Responsibilities Support the development of Occupational Health & Safety policies and programsAdvise and instruct on various safety-related topics (noise levels, use of machinery etc.)Conduct risk assessment and enforce preventative measuresReview existing policies and measures and update according to legislationInitiate and organize OHSA training of employees and executivesInspect premises and the work of personnel to identify issues or non-conformity (e.g. not using protective equipment)Oversee installations, maintenance, disposal of substances etc.Stop any unsafe acts or processes that seem dangerous or unhealthyRecord and investigate incidents to determine causes and handle worker's compensation claimsPrepare reports on occurrences and provide statistical information to upper managementEnsure company policies and procedures are always followed.Responsible for project performance, production, and efficiently utilizing site, department and staff resources.Hold daily start of shift meetings to cover safety topics and any near missesRequirements:A minimum of five (5) years in Dredging or Marine Construction Site Safety Health Officer (SSHO) Experience A minimum of Three (3) years of continuous construction as a SSHO on USACE Marine Construction Projects.
