The Electric Utility Transmission and Distribution Site Safety Manager is responsible for the daily execution and oversight of the client's Safety Management Plan, ensuring alignment with all applicable regulatory standards. This role plays a key part in fostering a safe and healthy work environment. Under the direction of the client's supervisor, the Site Safety Manager will provide dedicated support to meet the safety requirements of the assigned site.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 3+ years in utility construction safety, including hazard recognition, accident investigation, and root cause analysis.
  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with electric utility transmission and distribution standards, work practices, and applicable OSHA standards.
  • Communication and Leadership: Strong communication skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, effective teacher with excellent interpersonal abilities, The ability to lead Safety Meeting and tallboard/toolbox talks in a group setting.
  • Professional Traits: Positive attitude with a demonstrated commitment to integrity, accountability and safety. Ability to intervene in unsafe work practices, coach effectively, and foster relationships with employees.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office and capable of learning client specific systems.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) programs, procedures, and compliance measures.
  • Certifications: Must hold one of the following Safety designations:
    • Board of Certified Safety Professionals Credentials (CSP), (ASP), (GSP)
    • Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP)
    • Construction Site Safety Technician (CSST)
    • Occupational Hygiene and Safety Technician (OHST)
    • Certified Occupational Safety Specialist (COSS)
    • OSHA 510 or OSHA 511

 

  • Travel Requirements: Willingness to travel up to 80% to support project objectives.
  • Transportation: Must have reliable transportation. This is a full-time long term position with overtime and per diem.

 

Key Responsibilities for the Electric Utility Transmission and Distribution Site Safety Manager:

  • Conduct daily visits to multiple work sites to engage with crews on safety practices, including reviewing Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), coaching on hazard recognition, identifying strengths and areas for improvement, and recommending corrective actions to enhance overall field safety awareness.
  • Maintain accurate safety records, including Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Lead and participate in the Safety Observation Program to promote proactive safety engagement.
  • Facilitate and support the behavior based Human Performance Program to encourage safe work behaviors and reduce risk.
  • Identify workplace hazards, perform thorough risk assessments, and provide actionable recommendations to eliminate or mitigate risks.
  • Address and resolve employees safety concerns in a timely and effective manner.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports documenting safety observations, incidents and corrective actions.
