Site Safety Technician

  • Experience with crane, rigging or steel erection in a trade or safety role is preferred and will put you at the top of the list.
  • LOCAL is also a preference.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and enforce site-specific safety plans for crane/rigging projects.
  • Conduct daily safety inspections of the jobsite, focusing on crane and rigging activities such as hoisting, rigging, bolting, and welding.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA Subpart R (Steel Erection) and all applicable safety regulations.
  • Oversee fall protection systems, tie-off points, and safe access/egress for workers at height.
  • Lead toolbox talks, safety training, and pre-task planning sessions with crews.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions; recommend corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with safety managers, project managers, and superintendents/foremen to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Maintain safety documentation, including inspections, training records, and incident reports.
  • Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies on safety-related matters.
  • Act as the on-site champion of safety culture, ensuring every worker goes home safely.

Qualifications:

  • 3 years of construction safety experience, with at least 1 year in a crane/rigging environment (this can be in a trade or a safety role).
  • OSHA 30 Construction (minimum).
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA 1926 Subpart R (Steel Erection), crane & rigging safety, and fall protection standards.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills for engaging with crews and management.
  • Ability to recognize hazards and implement corrective actions quickly.
  • First Aid/CPR certification preferred.
Project predicted to last 11- 12 months.
Pay depends on experience in safety AND crane, rigging or steel background 
Must be willing to work overtime as needed.
