Estimator – Civil Construction
Location: Austin, TX
Salary: $85,000 – $125,000

About the Company
Our client is an established and growing civil contractor specializing in residential and commercial sitework, along with underground utility projects. With a strong reputation for delivering quality work on time and within budget, the company is seeking an experienced Estimator to join their Austin team.

Position Overview
The Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive bids for civil construction projects, with a focus on sitework and underground utilities (especially wet utilities). This role requires attention to detail, knowledge of construction methods, and the ability to collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for sitework and underground utility projects

  • Review project plans, specifications, and related documents to identify scope, materials, and labor requirements

  • Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes

  • Develop and maintain cost databases for accuracy in pricing

  • Collaborate with project management and field teams to ensure alignment between estimating and execution

  • Assist with bid reviews, proposals, and presentations to clients

  • Track market trends and pricing for materials and labor

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience estimating civil construction projects, preferably including sitework and underground utilities

  • Strong knowledge of civil construction means, methods, and materials

  • Proficiency with estimating software; HCSS HeavyBid experience preferred

  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical abilities
