Responsible for teaching participants how to skate using the United States Figure Skating Association (USFSA) Learn to Skate USA Program. This position is responsible for supervising participants on the ice, demonstrating skating skills, assisting with planning skating lesson plans and schedules, evaluating participant skills, and determining whether students meet USFSA ice skating level requirements to be eligible for testing.

PLEASE NOTE - The City of Farmington is currently conducting a citywide classification and compensation study. This position is posted using the job description and wage range in effect as of the posting date. The City's goal is to implement any resulting classification or compensation adjustments on or around January 1, 2027; however, final timelines are subject to completion of the study and agreement with the applicable labor union. Any updates that occur during the recruitment process or after hiring will be communicated to the selected candidate.

• Oversee and teach USFSA Learn to Skate USA Program lessons.
• Evaluate skating skills of participants in order to determine if the participant has successfully met all the requirements in the level for which they participated.
• Break down and then demonstrate skating skills on the ice to participants.
• Provide feedback to participants during skating lessons on what areas are being performed well and what areas need improvement.
• Knowledge of USFSA Lean to Skate USA Program
• Ability to effectively teach and communicate with youth
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to successfully demonstrate the skills being taught to participants
• Customer service skills including the ability to maintain composure in stressful situations
• Ability to display a positive and respectful attitude
