Through this program, Oceaneering is seeking a motivated Field Engineer Intern to work and learn at out West Coast Field Site located in Washington State. This occupation troubleshoots and repairs electro-mechanical systems in addition to performing a variety of fundamental field engineering tasks. The successful candidate will participate in a practical, structured, systematic program of on-the-job training and related instruction to develop existing military technical experience. Internship will be 6 - 16 weeks long and can only commence within the 180 days before discharge from active-duty service.

  • Must meet all eligibility requirements outlined in all applicable DoD and service specific instructions.
  • Official TAD/ TDY Orders to Oceaneering International, Inc. for the period of the internship.
  • Associates degree in engineering or related field. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to interpret engineering drawings and data.
  • Must demonstrate working knowledge of ANSI Y14.5, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, AWS D1.1,2
  • Must demonstrate Professional knowledge of applicable engineering concepts and principles and a familiarity with related engineering fields.
  • Military occupation or civilian experience related to field operations including fabrication, assembly, installation, and testing of advanced electro/mechanical systems.
  • Intermediate to advanced level user of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Must be a US Citizen who is not a dual citizen of any other country.
  • Must have an active DoD Top Secret security clearance.

Learn to report time as a Skill Bridge Intern using OII PeopleSoft Timekeeping tool.

Week 1

OJT

Assimilation with the organization to include meetings and introductions to functional peers and other internal resources. Completion of all required Oceaneering Learning Management System (SUMTOTAL) for new hires

Week 2

40 hours

OJT

Review of mechanical and electrical drawing/drafting fundamentals and related software

Week 3

40 hours

OJT

Review of interfacing with all phases of manufacturing and early stages of system design

Week 4

OJT

OJT begins with troubleshooting and repairing electro-mechanical systems.

Week 5

OJT red-lining of drawing packages to reflect "as-Built" status of equipment

OJT developing manufacturing and installation cost-benefit analysis input

40 hours/ week up to 16 weeks depending on length of internship approved by command

OJT assisting in conducting research and reference reading to assist engineers in obtaining technical information. Will continue to build on all topics learned in previous weeks through hands-on Field Engineer tasking.
