Job Summary

Skilled Craftsperson II is responsible for performing highly skilled manual work involving the installation, alteration, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, along with basic HVAC and plumbing tasks, reading utility meters, and assisting all other trade workers in the maintenance field. This position will be responsible for any assigned maintenance and repair duties, as well as preventative maintenance work on campus. The role will also assist in completing work when other skilled craftspeople are absent. This position plays a key role in supporting the building operations team on campus. The position reports directly to the Assistant Director of Building Operations and Facilities Management.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with electrical systems, electrical¿related equipment, basic HVACR, and electronic control systems; order and install replacement parts.
  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on MEP equipment and EMS (Energy Management Systems).
  • Help maintain and repair chillers, boilers, air handlers, pumps, motors, fan¿coil units, and related equipment.
  • Prepare reports, order necessary parts, and complete daily work orders for all work performed.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and plumbing equipment used on campus.
  • On¿Call Duty: Participate in an on¿call rotation with other facilities team members and respond to emergencies as needed.
  • Assist other skilled trade workers with maintenance and repairs on campus when requested.
  • Respond to campus emergencies when required.
  • Serve as backup for absent employees when needed.
  • Help maintain inventory of supplies and tools within the facilities department.
  • Communicate with administrators, supervisors, and others¿both verbally and in writing¿regarding service needs, customer concerns, and equipment repair requirements.
  • Complete additional assigned tasks as needed.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the operation of tools and equipment required to perform assigned duties.
  • Work effectively with others as part of a team.
  • Work outdoors and in extreme conditions, including cold, heat, wind, and precipitation.
  • Work independently without supervision.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Georgia driver¿s license required

Preferred Qualifications

  • CFC certification preferred
  • 5 years¿ Experience preferred
