Description / Position Overview

Skilled Maintenance Technician II - Parks Maintenance

The Parks Maintenance team is seeking a motivated and knowledgeable candidate with experience in commercial doors and hardware, as well as working knowledge of locksmithing and master key systems. This position helps ensure our local parks remain safe and enjoyable by assisting with playground repairs, carpentry, general maintenance, and construction tasks across multiple locations.

Work Schedule: This position requires that you are available to respond to after-hours emergencies and winter weather callouts.

This position is subject to budget required furloughs to be implemented in the 2026 calendar year.

As a Skilled Maintenance Technician II, you will:

  • Perform locksmithing repairs and replacements as needed
  • Assist with the maintenance and repair of various building structures through, carpentry, painting, etc.
  • Assist in playground equipment maintenance
  • Assist in the installation of park amenities and concrete
  • Fill out and manage assigned work orders generated through an online workorder system
  • Provide occasional oversight of contracted services; ensure work quality and adherence to established policies, procedures, and standards
  • Transport and operate light-duty and heavy-duty equipment and operate various hand tools as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

We are looking for candidates who demonstrate:

Knowledge of:

  • Locksmithing and master key systems
  • Equipment and techniques of the construction trade, such as concrete, welding, carpentry, equipment operation, equipment transportation, metalworking and fabrication, painting, sign work, and structural maintenance
  • Repair and maintenance standards for playground structures, play elements, and playground surfacing
  • Design and construction principles related to concrete removal and replacement
  • Commercial door and hardware repair related to hollow metal and aluminum storefronts

Ability to:

  • Interpret blueprints and build to design specifications
  • Safely operate a variety of assigned tools, equipment, machinery, and vehicle(s)
  • Perform manual labor in any weather condition
  • Work safely and follow all safety protocols and policies

Minimum Qualifications

  • Three years of full-time, professional experience in a related field.

  • Two years of full time experience in carpentry or locksmithing
  • Direct experience with playground repair and maintenance
  • Experience performing skilled maintenance tasks, such as welding, facilities maintenance, playground maintenance, event set up, and sign production
  • Experience performing construction and maintenance tasks within a diverse parks system
  • Possess, or obtain upon hire, and maintain a valid, non-probationary Colorado drivers license not subject to restriction related to alcohol and/or drug violations or pending charges

Additional Information

Physical Demands: This position requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, and climb for prolonged periods, occasionally work at heights over 60 feet, in confined spaces below grade, and lift and carry between 50 and 75 pounds occasionally and 25 pounds frequently. Audiovisual acuity is also required.
