Skilled Manual Mill Operator

We are currently seeking qualified candidates for a Skilled Manual Mill Operator position at a local steel mill in Youngstown, OH. This role is ideal for individuals with experience in machining who take pride in precision work.

Hours
3rd Shift: 12:00 AM – 12:00 PM, on-site

Pay
$17.00 - $21.00 per hour

Key Responsibilities
  • Position and secure workpieces on machines using holding devices, measuring instruments, hand tools, and hoists
  • Remove workpieces and check for conformance using microscopes, gauges, calipers, and micrometers
  • Verify workpiece alignment with measuring tools such as rules, gauges, or calipers
  • Move cutters or materials manually or by engaging automatic feeding mechanisms
  • Monitor gauges, dials, and indicators to ensure machine proper operation
  • Assess performance and make improvements or corrective actions as needed
  • Control equipment operations to produce precise results
  • Align parts for proper assembly
  • Check finished products for flaws and conformance to specifications
  • Study blueprints or work instructions to determine setup and tooling requirements
  • Change worn cutting tools using wrenches
  • Set cutting speeds, feed rates, depths, and tools per instructions or material knowledge
  • Install tools in spindles for machining operations

Minimum Requirements
  • Minimum 1 year of manual mill experience
  • Experience using hand tools
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Basic organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize

Nice to Have Skills
  • Experience with measuring instruments and gauges
  • Familiarity with machine setup and operation

Preferred Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Prior machining or manufacturing experience

Other Requirements
  • Physical ability to respond quickly to sounds and hazards
  • Ability to see and respond to dangerous situations
  • Correct use of personal protective equipment
  • Ability to lift up to 70 lbs
