    JOB SUMMARY

    Assist faculty with the preparation and setup of teaching laboratories for courses including General Biology, Cell Biology, Genetics, Immunology, and Anatomy & Physiology. Duties include preparing laboratory materials and equipment under the guidance of faculty, organizing and maintaining laboratory spaces, stocking supplies, monitoring inventory levels, and assisting with inventory management. The student will help ensure laboratories are organized and adequately supplied to support instructional activities while following departmental safety procedures and guidelines.

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Assist faculty with the preparation, setup, and breakdown of teaching laboratories for General Biology, Cell Biology, Genetics, Immunology, and Anatomy & Physiology courses.
    • Prepare laboratory materials, equipment, models, and supplies under the direction of faculty and laboratory staff.
    • Organize, stock, and maintain laboratory spaces to ensure readiness for instructional activities.
    • Monitor inventory levels of laboratory supplies and consumables and assist with inventory tracking and recordkeeping.
    • Restock laboratory materials and notify faculty or staff when supplies are low.
    • Clean and organize laboratory work areas, equipment, and storage spaces following departmental safety guidelines.
    • Assist with specimen, model, and equipment organization and storage.
    • Support faculty and laboratory staff with routine laboratory maintenance tasks and special projects as needed.
    • Follow all laboratory safety policies, procedures, and departmental guidelines.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned by faculty or laboratory staff.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    Must have successfully completed General Biology I and General Biology II laboratory courses with satisfactory performance.

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    Experience with laboratory setup is preferred. Experience with autoclaving, media and agar plate preparation, and general laboratory maintenance will be considered an added bonus.

    SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS

    Physical Demands: Ability to lift and transport packages, laboratory supplies, teaching models, and equipment between the stockroom, laboratories, and classrooms, and to perform routine laboratory setup and maintenance.
