Position Summary Condensed to ~1000 characters
AmeriCorps members support youth in Sitka using a trauma-informed culturally responsive approach to build resiliency through academic, mental-health, and life-skills support.
Members collaborate with teachers, counselors, and administrators to provide mentoring, behavioral redirection, crisis response, and positive role-modeling for at-risk youth.
Under the CMHP Program Manager, they deliver non-clinical skills training for ages 5-21, teaching social-emotional skills, healthy relationships, self-care, and conflict resolution.
Members serve in schools lacking support or supplement existing skills-trainer capacity, offering consistent classroom assistance, behavioral interventions, and improved access to mental-health resources.
Positioned in Sitka School District buildings, members remain at one school to build strong relationships and help YAS clients engage successfully in the school day.
