Job Description
Senior Data Engineer / Data Architect
Location: Remote
Start: ASAP
Duration: ~6 months with strong chance of extension
Engagement: Full-time consulting contract
Overview
We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer / Data Architect to design, build, and scale modern data platforms that power analytics, product experiences, and machine learning use cases. This role sits at the intersection of engineering, data, and product, and requires a hands-on technical leader who can operate end-to-end-from architecture to implementation.
You will play a key role in building scalable data pipelines, defining robust data models, and ensuring production-grade data systems that are reliable, observable, and governed.
What You'll Do
Required Qualifications
Strong hands-on experience with:
Python
SQL
Apache Spark
Databricks or similar data platforms
Proven experience building scalable data pipelines and production-grade data systems
Deep expertise in data modeling (dimensional, medallion, or similar architectures)
Experience with modern data stack tools such as:
Airflow (or equivalent orchestration tools)
dbt
Cloud platforms (AWS or GCP)
Strong understanding of data engineering best practices including:
Data quality and testing frameworks
Observability and monitoring
Data governance and lineage
Experience working cross-functionally with product, analytics, data science, and engineering teams

Slalom is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For this position, the base salary pay range is $85/hr to $100/hr. Actual compensation will depend upon an individual's skills, experience, qualifications, location, and other relevant factors. The salary pay range is subject to change and may be modified at any time.
