Overview:

The Small Business Lender will work closely with the Commercial Lending and Treasury Management Team and the various retail channels to drive production. Production will mainly be derived from internal referrals from NW Connect and web applications which will include new Business Loans and Treasury Management. Additionally, the Small Business Lender will work with the VP on directed marketing campaigns for product penetration which will include call outreach. The Small Business Lender r will also be responsible for the generation of referrals to other areas of Northwest including Consumer Lending and Mortgage Lending, with objectives related to loan production, portfolio growth, fee income, profitability, credit quality, loan delinquencies, member service, and personnel development.

Responsibilities:
  • Stay abreast & ensure compliance and operational risk controls in accordance with NWFCU and NCUA regulatory standards and policies
  • Collaborate with other divisions within the credit union
  • Effectively demonstrate the ability to make timely, prudent, and in-depth credit evaluations that meet the minimum credit requirements as established in the loan policy manual
  • Oversee all aspects of the credit process, loan origination, pipeline management, prescreening, cash flow and collateral analysis, credit review, due diligence, and loan closing for the small business loan program.
  • Meet with existing and perspective members to continuously promote the Northwest brand while identifying cross-selling opportunities and potential referrals to other departments
  • Target focus for origination is ideally split between credit card, C&I Lending and SBA.Provide quality member service through various communication methods
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
  • Remains cognizant of and adheres to NWFCU policies and procedures as well as regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)

Qualifications:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working with small businesses
  • Ability to maintain effective relationships with internal partners, members, service providers and external Center of Influences (COI’s)
  • Ability to generate loans, deposits, and fee income with existing and prospective members
  • Ability to comply with all internal organizational policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of credit underwriting, cash & accrual accounting procedures, cash flow analytics and loan documentation 
  • Must possess strong conflict resolution skills and the ability to mediate customer service problems, or credit disputes when they arise
  • Effective oral & written communication skills
  • Accuracy & detail oriented
