Job Title: SME Automation Test Engineer
Location: Tysons Corner, VA (Hybrid)
Duration: Fulltime

Role Summary
The SME Automation Test Engineer supports Agile Testing activities for the Medicaid.gov and InsureKidsNow.gov platforms. This role executes functional, regression, accessibility, and automated testing within a two week Agile/SAFe cadence. The engineer collaborates closely with developers, product owners, and DevOps to ensure high quality, defect free releases across DEV → TEST → IMP → PROD environments. They will have the ability to contribute to the existing automation strategy and Agile Testing implementation. This role should have the ability to build and maintains automated test frameworks, integrates automated testing into CI/CD pipelines, and ensures comprehensive regression coverage. They also drive continuous improvement in testing practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and validate acceptance criteria during refinement and sprint planning.
  • Execute functional, integration, cross browser, and regression testing for Drupal-based applications.
  • Perform pre deployment testing including functional, compatibility, and content validation.
  • Conduct post deployment testing including smoke tests and release specific regression.
  • In addition, oversee pre deployment and post deployment testing workflows across all environments.
  • Log defects with clear reproduction steps and collaboration with developers for resolution.
  • Maintain test cases, test data, and traceability in Jira and GitHub.
  • Lead Agile Testing strategy across functional, regression, integration, and accessibility testing.
  • Architect and maintain automated test frameworks using Playwright (preferred), including UI, API, and visual regression automation.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
  • Develop automated regression suites aligned to release scope and PWS requirements.
  • Perform advanced debugging, root cause analysis, and defect triage.
  • Ensure traceability from requirements → test cases → defects → release notes.
  • Mentor fellow QA engineers and establish best practices for test design and automation.
  • Collaborate with DevOps to optimize test execution, environment stability, and deployment validation.
  • Support accessibility automation and manual 508 compliance testing.
  • Produce high quality test documentation, automation reports, and quality metrics.

Required Qualifications
  • 7–10 years of QA/testing experience with at least 3+ years in automation.
  • Experience with Drupal, Acquia, or large public facing government websites.
  • Experience with IV&V testing.
  • Experience with Agile testing, regression testing, and cross browser validation.
  • Experience with Jenkins.
  • Strong expertise in Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, or similar frameworks.
  • Experience in integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong understanding of Agile/SAFe testing practices.
  • Experience with accessibility testing tools and WCAG standards.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Website and website pages, in multiple browser types and mobile.
  • Experience with Monocart.
  • Prior CMS/HHS or federal contracting experience.
Compensation:
The expected compensation range for this position is $80,000 – $140,000 annually. Compensation is determined in good faith and may vary based on job-related factors, including relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, clearance level, labor category alignment, contract requirements, work location, internal equity, and business needs.
The posted range reflects the Sky’s reasonable estimate at the time of posting and does not guarantee a specific salary or rate. Final compensation will be determined based on the selected candidate’s qualifications and applicable contractual and business considerations.
