Job Title: Anesthesia Technician

Duration: 13 Weeks
Location: Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, NY 14642
Schedule: Days | Monday–Friday | 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM | 5x8s | 40 Hours/Week

On-Call Requirements:

  • On-call/callback required
  • Weekend and holiday coverage as needed by the unit

Job Summary

The Anesthesia Technician supports the anesthesia care team by preparing equipment, assisting during procedures, maintaining anesthesia equipment, troubleshooting advanced devices, and ensuring operating rooms are fully equipped for surgical and procedural cases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare anesthesia equipment, monitors, medications, and supplies prior to procedures.
  • Assist anesthesiologists, CRNAs, and anesthesia residents during routine and complex surgical cases.
  • Support difficult intubations and central line placements.
  • Operate the cell-saver machine and assist with cardiac, liver transplant, vascular, thoracic, trauma, and other advanced surgical procedures.
  • Maintain, calibrate, troubleshoot, and perform preventive maintenance on anesthesia equipment and related devices.
  • Set up and test infusion pumps, nerve stimulators, defibrillators, transport monitors, anesthesia machines, and fiberoptic bronchoscopes.
  • Ensure anesthesia equipment and supplies are available for operating rooms and off-site procedures.
  • Turn over operating rooms between cases and restock anesthesia carts.
  • Assist with staff orientation, education, and in-service training programs.
  • Serve as backup to the shift supervisor when needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of recent experience as an Anesthesia Technician.
  • BLS certification required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree with related technical training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certification through the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists & Technicians (ASATT) or another nationally recognized certifying body preferred.
