SMS Strategic Operations and Integration Manager

The Boeing Safety Management System (SMS) Team is seeking a Strategic Operations and Integration Manager to manage the Team in Everett, WA. 

This individual will lead and scale business operations for the SMS Enterprise Core team to accelerate SMS implementation and organizational safety maturity. They will also lead the SMS 5- year planning integration efforts, including promotion of the plan, across the Enterprise SMS team. This manager will run program scheduling and project management across a broad set of stakeholders, own the team operating rhythm, produce executive‑ready materials (including CEO, Accountable Executive, and ASC safety review content), coordinate cross‑functional integration, and provide chief‑of‑staff support to the SMS core leader. The role combines hands‑on program delivery with people leadership and process improvement to ensure on‑time delivery of critical milestones and clear, concise communication to leadership and business units.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Leads and coaches a 2–5 person business operations team responsible for scheduling, program management, meeting facilitation, and stakeholder integration.
  • Maintains and owns the master program schedule, milestone/capability roadmap, dependency mapping, and escalation pathways across Business Units, Safety, Regulatory, Engineering, IT, and other partners.
  • Designs and runs the operating rhythm: meeting cadences, clear meeting purposes, agendas, decision logs, action tracking, look‑ahead planning, and meeting minutes.
  • Produces concise program artifacts for varied audiences: plan‑on‑a‑page, roadmaps, risk registers/heat maps, executive one‑pagers, status summaries, and CEO safety review packets.
  • Acts as a light chief‑of‑staff: anticipate leader needs, prepare decision‑ready materials, manage leadership requests and sensitive communications, and support prioritization and escalation.
  • Coordinates cross‑functional governance: change control, readiness checkpoints, RACI clarity, and closure of commitments.
  • Supports budget development, LRBP coordination, SOW/vendor interactions, and procurement/invoicing touchpoints as needed.
  • Standardizes and improves processes, templates, and tooling (Smartsheet/Workfront/Jira/Confluence, MARS/ESATS/Ariba, Excel/PowerPoint) to increase transparency and efficiency.
  • Tracks KPIs, drive continuous improvement, and foster a psychologically safe, inclusive team environment.

Work Authorization:

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at Everett, WA. Some travel may be required as business needs.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):

  • Candidates must have at least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed the Boeing internal course “Exploring Leadership.”
  • Bachelors degree or higher
  • 3+ years of experience do you have with program management, project management and/or business operations
  • Experience preparing executive level briefings
  • Experience working across organizations and cross-functional groups to ensure project coordination, implementation and completion         
  • Experience with development and integration of plans, strategies, processes, and/or KPIs across programs to track process to and enable attainment of goals
  • Experience utilizing Microsoft Office applications such as SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft Project
  • Experience using excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate with leaders and colleagues

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Experience):

  • Experience with Safety Management Systems (SMS)
  • Current Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
  • Experience working with and developing a Long Range Business Plan (LRBP)
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Shiny, PowerBI)

Summary Pay Range: $126,650 - $171,350
